What do I do with fallen out teeth?

DD lost her first tooth. I've swapped her tooth for a coin while she's sleeping but I've realised I know don't know what to do with it.
Do I flush it down the loo? Do I keep it in a box (that feels a bit wired...).
I realise it's not a big deal and doesn't matter either way but just wondered what other mums do.

I have kept all my children's teeth in my jewellery box. I kept them separate but when dd3 came along they got a bit muddled. One of dd3's is a family oddity as it was a long thin fang of 4cms and had to be extracted. I also have some of my own milk teeth from the 60s. They're fascinatingGrin Takes all sorts I suppose

We binned all the children’s teeth but I have a little bag of our dogs puppy teeth for some reason .

Puppy's teeth?! But why?! I didn't realise there'd be more than 1 or 2 who do this...

ThorFull · 02/03/2021 12:32

I can’t bring myself to bin them. Or any crafts they bring hime with handprints or footprints.

It’s ridiculous. I dispose of hair and nail clippings but teeth and prints feel too much like part of them 🤷🏽‍♀️

I've got my dds' hair from their first cuts and other stuff like birth cards and belly button clips. I did have the curls from my dad's first haircut until a few years ago when the box was accidently binned. That was from 1924 so I have obviously inherited my hoarding instincts from my grandmother!

BiBabbles · 02/03/2021 12:44

We binned them when they were little, always did a bit of a song and dance about examining the tooth before letting them put it in their tooth pixie doll to put in the window (save me or their father fishing out from under the pillows) and then trade out the coin and chuck away.

When they were older we did some science experiments with some of them before doing this - I think that started after my oldest saw some experiments somewhere, and none of them wanted to keep them.

@toomuchfaster the food waste is for meat bones which break down easily in the council facility. Enamel is unlikely to break down and I think for the amount of landfill teeth take up, it's ok to use it 😁

Hehe. I didn't realise that's what it was (skipped past the earlier picture for obbious reasons.)

I googled and there was a whole screen full of them!!! Very apt name 😁

My mum kept our baby teeth and presented them to us as adults, lovingly pressed into "gums" of pink plasticine

I've always kept DS's teeth (with a list of where/how they fell out). Wasn't really sure why but since hearing of something similar to this ^^ on the radio, I'm now hoping to disgust him with a surprise horrible plasticine face of them when he's an adult.

He's now 10 and makes me squirm pulling gross faces with the whites of his eyes on a regular basis so this will be my pay back. It's a slow burner but will be worth it. (Then he can throw them away)
