Im tired. Tried to feed my 6 month DS some mashed carrots and sweet potato and he spat it back at me. Fine. Im not going to force the issue. Tried to feed him his milk. He took 3oz and wont take anymore. Fine - also not going to force the issue. Hes grizzley. Im just tired of nothing being easy today. Im also actually physically tired. Theres no real point to this post, I just wanted a moan I suppose.

We've all been there in one way or another. Why not just give DS the carrot cooked as sticks and leave him to explore! If he's grizzly and not taking a lot of milk, is he teething or getting a cold?

My back has been in spasm for 4 days, I'm in pain and grumpy. DS is a snotty mess. And the house is not getting any cleaner as I actually can't do it

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 18/10/2020 14:36

He has a bit of a cold but its the tail end of it. Im in two minds if its teething or not as hes been rubbing his left ear and dribbling a lot for weeks and weeks now.

I think im also in a fed up mood, which doesnt really help. If anyone else wants a moan too, feel free to use this thread!

Teething did seem to be very protracted for DS. At least now he's 3 that's done and he can make a vague attempt with a hanky for himself

I know how your feel DS is nearly 9months and today hes been up since 6am and is fighting his sleep. Hasn't had a nap at all and just moaning.

Hang in there I think it gets better

LikeTheOceansWeRise · 18/10/2020 15:56

Oh I'm with you OP. My wee one is 5 and a half months and fighting her naps like a champ at the mo. Also frustrated she can't crawl and teething, so very grizzly.

I just want to lie down in silence for a while. Bizarrely I can't stop fantasising about getting a pedicure. It's probably the desire to have hands touch me that aren't tiny and covered in saliva, and also because I'm on my feet ALL BLOODY DAY LONG.

The fact that Covid restrictions are clearly going to be sticking around for the longterm and it's getting cold and darker earlier does not help. Sending Cake and Wine

Ive decided to get a Papa Johns when hes gone to bed. The thought has got me through today!

Mine is similar. Almost 6 months. Sleeps dreadful, and has started the last month moaning all day basically if he isn’t carried

I’m tired. But the only way he’s happy is being walked in pram or sling. So in my tired state, I’m walking 15,000 steps most days still. Dh did some of that today whilst I stayed home and cooked diner which seemed a luxury.

Caspianberg · 18/10/2020 18:40

Oh and mine never ‘goes to bed’, so no free time in the evening yet. We all go up to bed around 8.30pm, I get ready for bed at same time as he then feeds for up to an hour before sleeping. By which point I’m knackered. Knowing he will then probably wake every 90 mins until 3am, stay wide awake 3-5am, then may go back again. He still has anywhere from 3-8 long feeds overnight. I usually wake up more tired than before I go to bed

Dexy2020 · 18/10/2020 18:46

Papa John's sounds sooooo nice!! Also very tired 8.5 month old that never been a great sleeper but last night was particularly bad, asleep at 18:20pm after being awake since 12:30 in the afternoon, awake at 21:35 till 00:15 then up for the day at 04:15!! Currently partaking a little baileys then early night I'm feeling :) Tonight is a new night 😂😴 Sending 🍰💐🍷☕xx

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 18/10/2020 18:49

Urgh yes, last night was particularly awful here too!

My DS at 6 months went through a stage of not wanting his food and milk and I put it down to teething. Poor boy hasn't stopped teething since 3 months. He's 15 months now and yesterday he was funny with his food and it's frustrating because it's natural to want to see them eat and when they don't you worry and stress yourself out Grin

BlueJag · 18/10/2020 18:59

Why don't you wait a little longer to wean him? He can get over his cold then enjoy his food.
I followed the content little baby weaning and it was fantastic. So easy. I didn't have to think about it. I used to batch cook and freeze. Makes the week far more relaxed.

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 18/10/2020 19:07

He loves his food. Wolfed down some apple this morning and couldnt get enough of his brocolli this evening. He has eaten carrots and sweet potato before, but today decided it wasnt for him

Dexy2020 · 19/10/2020 05:54

I hope you had a better night last night!! ❤️Xx

newmum234 · 19/10/2020 06:34

My DS is struggling with sleep too at the moment. Is there something about 6 months?! I thought things would be getting easier by this point, but I think 4-5 months was actually an easier age than 6 months.

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 19/10/2020 06:57

A better night here! He slept pretty well until maybe 4am, then was quite wakeful after that.

@newmum234 ive been thinking the same!

OP posts:
Dexy2020 · 19/10/2020 07:10

Aww that's good news! same here he did 18:30 till 03:30 then 03:40 till 04:40 then we were up, think we were asleep for about half 7 last night so feeling a lot more human today xx

Nelbert19 · 19/10/2020 07:14

They have a big cognitive leap between weeks 23-26, with the 6 month mark being a particularly stormy time. Hang in there, it will pass and on the other side they’ll be learning a bunch of new skills. Like untying your shoelaces... um yay?

I’m getting this info from the wonder weeks study - has been spot on for my boy so far, helpful to know when I can expect a tough patch and more importantly, when it’s likely to end! Also reassures me I’m not going mad, he hasn’t been replaced by a changeling and he will get back to his usual sunny self!

newmum234 · 19/10/2020 07:43

That would explain a lot - thanks!

Nelbert19 · 19/10/2020 08:04

@newmum234 would recommend the wonder weeks app - your next leap is 9 months, with week 36 being particularly grumpy!

Although it also lists milestones to look out for (so after the 9 month mark they’ll start to recognise when things are dirty for example). Some people like this, but for others it just causes anxiety because they worry if a milestone isn’t hit, so don’t download it if you think it’ll make you anxious!

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 19/10/2020 09:18

@nelbert19 that makes sense! I do have the app and its telling me he's coming to the end of a leap now (hes 7 months at the end of this week). Knowing my son hasnt had a personality transplant makes me feel better! Hes also desperately trying to crawl at the moment, which adds to his annoyance/frustration during the day. Looking forward to when he can crawl though as im hoping it'll tire him out!

Harrysmummy246 · 19/10/2020 12:15

And we had wakes at 12 and 4. He's coughing etc poor love. But at 4am, he was ok for me to blow kiss and say night night. This is a sodding miracle

In other news, my back is still bloody crocked but GPs have replied to online form and husband has been sent for co-codamol as I'm not officially allowed ibuprofen :(

halfpasteleven · 19/10/2020 12:30

16 months here can I join? Still waking at night for a bottle ! I've tried reducing her naps from 2 to 1 during the day , also tried making sure she is well fed all day and very full going to bed but she still wakes at least once in the night and only a bottle will do!

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 19/10/2020 12:34

Of course you can join. Babies/children are HARD!

He's currently unloading all the recipe cards from the folder. And had a meltdown for turning his tablet off. Good job he's bloody cute
