Nappy hell

Baby is 6 months old and every single night he is absolutely wet through. Weve always commented that he wees a hell of a lot for a little one. Please give me advice. This us what we have done so far

When in size 3 used size 4+ pull ups
When in size 3 used size 4+ normal ones
When in size 4 used size 5 pull ups
When in size 4 used size 7 pull ups

The reason why we used size 7 is because my mil gave us a massive bag of size 7 pampers pull ups she had in the cupboard going spare for my Niece

He sleeps from around 7pm till 4am and then wakes for a feed and ill change him. Most of the time his baby gro and sleep bag is wet through and occasionally its gone right through to mattress sheet. If he stirs before 4am and seems restless I will change him. I dont want to start waking him unnecessary to change his bum but don't know what else to do its driving me mad and my washing pile is soooo high.

Oh and the nappies we use for bed are pampers.

Thanks guys x

Are you sizing up because your baby is quite big for their age? Try a smaller size. And a different brand to pampers. I don’t think I’d use pull ups at night - I don’t find they hold as much. Could you try some kind of absorbent pants over the nappy?

Megan2018 · 06/09/2020 04:48

Try switching to cloth, then you have lots of options for boosting. Or you can boost disposable nappies too. Information here

We had this problem with Pampers. Now we use boots 4+, they have been great. £3.50 for 28 nappies

Try a waterproof wrap over the outside of the disposable to stop the leakage.

Maybe they’re leaking because they’re not snug enough? I’d go for baby’s usual size but the + version.

We always found fred and flo nappies from Tesco the best. Boots are good as well

seayork2020 · 06/09/2020 05:07

We had problems with pampers and Huggies (a while ago now though) but aldi ones were great

MaySunshine123 · 06/09/2020 05:13

My baby is 6 months, and we had the exact same problem with Pampers!! She would leak through constantly!

We switched to either Aldi and Lidl ones, and now she never leaks. Highly recommend!

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 06/09/2020 06:42

I get why you size up at night (I do with mine) but if babies in size 4 I think a size 7 would be way too big. Also, try nappies rather than pull ups. Pampers have always been good for me, but I know people love the Aldi nappies.

DisgruntledPelican · 06/09/2020 06:57

Sainsburys nappies have been the best for no leaks at night, but Aldi are also good in the bigger baby sizes. Agree that a size 7 nappy won’t ever be tight enough to stop leaks until the baby is the correct weight for them!

Couldntthinkofausername24 · 06/09/2020 07:09

Thanks so much you guys. I'm going to try everything you all suggested. Knew I could rely on you all z

The size 7 would be way too big so the wee is probably just running out.

Are his clothes too tight? If he's a wriggler you might be getting compression leaks. I'd try a few different brands in the next size up plus version - like PP we found Aldi to be good. Other options could be doubling up so nappy with a slight bigger pull up over the top. I used to change my DD at night before I went to bed but she was a pretty solid sleeper so it was easy enough.

SwanShaped · 06/09/2020 07:18

Pampers are rubbish. I agree with those saying aldi.

Caspianberg · 06/09/2020 07:21

Reusable here, but tots bots bamboozle plus wrap. 4 month old here wakes 4+ times to feed overnight so pees a lot still and this combo has never leaked yet for 11-12hrs wear. You can add boosters also to increase absorption but we haven’t needed to yet

aimzxd · 06/09/2020 07:24

My ds is the same. Pampers dont last 4 hours on him never mind through the night (he sleeps 7 till 6/7 most days). We use lupilu from lidl and havent had a leak since.

LivingMyBestLife2020 · 06/09/2020 07:25

My son is 2 and he’s big for his age (15kg) and so into use size 6! I think your nappies are far too big for a 6 month old! I’d hit be using pull ups either. Morrison’s nappies and Aldi are what I use and both are great, in the right size

avidteadrinker · 06/09/2020 07:44

We put 2 nappies on my son at night to stop leaks.
Also used Aldi or Lidl nappies, we find they suit our son the best!

Indecisivelurcher · 06/09/2020 07:48

Agree pampers are rubbish, aldi or Morrisons are good. Get the right size for weight! Get the ones with a + symbol, it means extra absorbency, eg 4+. (It does not mean half a size bigger!) If you're still struggling then a friend had to resort to putting a sanitary towel inside, genius! Going cloth with boosters is another option.

JC12345 · 06/09/2020 07:54

We also use tots bots bamboozles and wrap over and very rarely have leaks. I definitely wouldn't use pull ups though until they're almost dry at night, as they don't have anywhere near the capacity of a nappy.

Changedmynamelots · 06/09/2020 07:56

Also premium range and fantastic!
Go for the + and you can’t go wrong!

Also no wonder size 7 leaked?!! They are for children not babies. My DS was in nappies till just over 3 years old, he was in a size 5!!!

THATbasicrebelBITCH · 06/09/2020 07:56

Which pampers are you using?

The only nappies that do not leak for my smallest over night are the pampers premium protection

Couldntthinkofausername24 · 06/09/2020 07:59

Thank you ill try the aldi ones and perhaps cloth. He normally wears correct size nappies for his weight but thought I'd try the size 7 as they were stuck in the back of the cupboard. Its hard to judge if hes waking up at 4ish for a feed or because hes wet. Hes been waking up around this time for a while now, mind you hes always wet so god knows if hungry or uncomfortable poor bugger. Ill get them today. I also use little angels from asda for throughout the day and he is still sometimes wet but mostly over night x

Little lamb for us - does my toddler overnight with no leaks

suzuki650 · 06/09/2020 08:04

Do you use a poppers vest at night? When my sons nappy leaked at night we went up a vest size which stopped it.

jaffacakesareabiscuit · 06/09/2020 08:11

I'm always surprised when so many people on these threads say pampers are awful, we've been through nearly every popular brand of nappy in the past 18 months and found pampers premium protection to be the best!

Never had a leak ever, and DS is 18 months and sleeps 12 hours at night. He wears pull ups too. Agree with PP that maybe is vest is too tight? I think I would try a bigger pull up over his normal size nappy

Couldntthinkofausername24 · 06/09/2020 08:13

He dosent wear a vest only a baby gro so its not pulling on his nappy. I always feel really bad like I'm not putting his nappy on properly. It makes me feel a bit sad in a morning.
