What age did you change your pram from lie-flat bassinet to seat?

My DD is 20 weeks old and is starting to get bored and upset in the bassinet of the pram. She'll sleep in it for a short period, but once awake she's not happy.

I know it's usually advised to change at 6 months, but does depend on the individual baby. My DD is not sitting independently yet but has excellent head control.

We have a Bugaboo Cameleon.

At what age did you change yours?

@brastrapbroken may I ask what type of Pram you have / had?

brastrapbroken · 03/08/2020 15:43

@midwifeyNC

It was a baby style lux.

6 months.

But the essential thing is that your baby has really good head control. They should not be in a seated position for any length of time without proper head control (as in you could also carry them around not supporting the head minimum)

The Bugaboo chameleon seat really isn't a suitable for a young baby as they sort of have to bend their body in the middle when the seat is reclined. This isn't great for their breathing. A seat where the back piece moves back independently of the lower part of the seat (like a stroller, Bugaboo Bee or a mountain buggy) is fine for a young baby. But the bucket seats where the entire seat tips back in the reclined mode should only be used after 6 months.

We are still using carrycot now at 3 months, but he is virtually head to toe at the edges, so i doubt it will last 6 months. Its a mountain buggy so main seat fine from newborn anyway.
He already hooks his feet over the top, so doubt he would be very safe in it either once he can start sitting and pulling himself up.

Also about 4.5 months. He hates the bassinet, much happier when he could see out. Our seat has a half recliner seat setting so we used that.

4 months.

I wanted to keep him in the bassinet for at least 6 months, but he was already rolling and trying to crawl. I didn't much enjoy pudding a pram around staring at his bum as he rocked on all 4s.
