Hello -I know this has been asked before but I want to buy some online today and need quick answers!I use MEOS in the day but so far have been too chicken to use reusables overnight so use a disposable but it's time I stopped. I know the MEO will not last 12 hours even with a booster. I have fluffles but they tend to leak out into her wrap so hardley ever use them and she's getting too big for them now anyway (might be selling actually if anyone is interested). Been looking at standard Minkis...anyone use these?Or have other suggestions? She's skinny but long if that helps....

I prefer minki huggles for overnight. Or little kiwi quick flips.

beckmo · 01/10/2007 20:43

Thanks Roskva. I haven't looked at the huggles. Didn't know if minki were any good. Will check out kiwi quick flips too.

We found Little Ewe terry squares were absorbent enough to last overnight until about 9mths.
Also, v cheap - about £2.50 each and use with disposable liners and motherease (or similar) wraps.
HTH

beckmo · 01/10/2007 21:14

You see I knew this would happen...just looked at the little kiwi quick flips and now want them as well.I sense a nappy splurge coming.

And at £2.50 each what's the harm in buying some little Ewe squares too...

I've never been a fan of huggles - bulky but not as absorbant as I want. I swear by a jam tots underneath a quick flip (he's a heavy wetter, and regularly poos in the night nappy, so that means I only change the jam tots rather than the whole caboodle).

Roskva · 01/10/2007 21:53

what's a jamtots, Flame?

Roskva · 01/10/2007 21:55

Hope you like the huggles, beckmo. I'll feel terribly guilty if you don't...

Flamesparrow · 01/10/2007 21:57

Jam Tots I don't find them desperately absorbant as a nappy for the day, but as a "booster nappy" iyswim they are great because they are nice and slim with good containment

NappiesLaGore · 01/10/2007 21:57

no no you want a beehinds and wooliwrap shorts.

[just to confuse you further ]

Flamesparrow · 01/10/2007 22:00

Ooh yes - beehinds goooood

(Waiting to hear back from them )

NappiesLaGore · 01/10/2007 22:01

keep hold of that one flame. i ahve too many anyway. need another baby

beckmo · 01/10/2007 22:15

Oh lord. This happened last time and I got overwhelmed and ended up going with MEOS to avoid any confusion. There's sooo much choice. Will check all these out. Thanks for all your suggestions. Don't worry Roskva...I'm not buying anything yet!Going to look into beehinds and jamtots now...if DD stays asleep.

O.k...been looking at your shop Flame and now have more questions than answers as I have just seen the wooliwrap shorts. These look great....

OP posts:
NappiesLaGore · 01/10/2007 22:44

ooh ooh, the wooliwraps are wonderful, i can concur with that.

if you'd like to try out a couple of different kinds without breaking the bank, i might be persuaded to lend you one or two, if you can be bothered with the faff.

or you can do what i do and buy everything you like the look of and end up with a huge array of different stuff and far more than you actually need but cant bear to part with coz its all so fluffy and lovely!!

susiecutie · 01/10/2007 22:51

I use Huggles at night. had terrible probs with leaking over night. Never had a leaky nappy since. And she is very comfy on them. I use woolywrap longies over the top. GORGEOUS i have also used a minki wrap overnight too... or on long car journy with the huggle.

I ALSO, use slinki minkis well boosted over night, and also hve not had a leak so far...

I might have a look at the kiwi thinkies ! if I can find them!!!

You wont be disappointed with the minki huggle at night honestly. especially with a woolywrap. however mine took nearly 3 weeks to come through so had to use the minki wrap for a bit, and have to say, it ws good too. But the wool is more breathable and not so smelly in the morning when we take it off.

NappiesLaGore · 01/10/2007 23:01

aw man,i should not be looking at more nappies!

susiecutie · 01/10/2007 23:23

aha.. anppielagore... i will pick your brain then... being a seasoned nappy expert/ buyer!

can you recomend a good slim absorbant stuffing for my pocket nappies? I have slinki minkis.... love them so much as so comfy and cute... but have super soakers which are great should the slinki be used over night, BUT, just too bulky in the da and not needed. DD is not a heavy wetter so no need for such bulk...

I've been recommended microfibre cloths but having trouble finding them had a good look round kingston today...

just wondered what you use or would use ? thanks

sorry to highjack your thread beckmo

and i know some of you on here have already offered greatly appreciated advice

NappiesLaGore · 01/10/2007 23:35

well, i should say that ive actually only been using (and addicted to) cloth for a few months

but

my pocket stuffing of choice is the wonderfulls microfibre inserts (you can get them from flame/bumfluff) theres a big one anda small one attached by poppers. i tend to almost always use both... but they are light and dont hang down the way some inserts do esp when wet.

microfibre drys v quickly too.

NappiesLaGore · 01/10/2007 23:37

have heard that using microfibre cloths would be the same thing in essence... but are they any cheaper?? Ecloths and the like are quite expensive, no?

susiecutie · 01/10/2007 23:52

I have had those recommended too, but are a litle pricey...

I've just found on my old fav site ( minkis again... yawn yawn to everyone who reads my posts, its all i seem to go on about ! ) they sell the microfibre cloths on there very cheaply... as in at least a 3rd the price of the super soakers and also, a 6th the price of the ones you recommned... but i like the idea of not having to 'shape ' the stuffing, for my DH to use and my mum.

mum could cope but DH is rebelling in a big way at nappy changes apparently unable to even stuff the huggle with its OWN stuffing.. hahahahahaha! nice try MR!

APPARENTLY.. his hands are too big to get into the pocket [insert rolling eyes emoticon] te he he

thank you though for your recommendation...

I am now looking at the actual wonderfuls nappys too. he will kill me if i buy anymore.. oh well, at least she will look great and be just as comfy

susiecutie · 01/10/2007 23:53

NappiesLaGore - also, you dont happen to have the url to those sites do you? just had a look nd cant find them sorry to bother!

NappiesLaGore · 02/10/2007 00:02

yes bumfluff is the website of the poster, flame.

and good luck with converting people!

susiecutie · 02/10/2007 00:27

i see now! flame = name of poster... not another website! oh dear.. far too late... someone has had me up looking at more cloth nappies to buy

i will continue to convert anyone i can to cloth... and not just minkis its a brilliant mission... funny thing is, i've never yet met someone who converted to cloth that went back! intersting hey.....

thank you again, very much!

take care now.

Flamesparrow · 02/10/2007 07:50

I'm liking this new assistant thing Nappies Do I get to start introducing myself as "Sparrow. Flame Sparrow."? I draw the line at martinis though.

Pretty much "wot she said"

Greenacres inserts are good with minkis Or a fuzzi bunz one if you are only using them during the day (really should get those listed on the site)
