You could get her a set of books.
The Book People are very good for these.

haychee · 01/10/2007 13:33

My dd1 is 7, she loves anything that resembles a teenager!

Nickelodeon (not nick jr or cbeebies)
High school musical
MP3 player
Make up
Secret diary
Would love a mobile phone but i say no way
X factor
Drawing
Searching through ebay
Goodie bag mag
Shoes
Nintendo ds

Generally being in charge of dd2
Helping me around the house for money
Setting up sale stands outside the house, for passers by to buy bookmarks she has made.

Naked brothers band is apparently the best tv show ever! (nickelodeon)
Zoey 101 too, and sleepover club.

hellish · 01/10/2007 13:39

My dd1 is nearly 8, she hasn't seen HSM yet, and is known to watch CBeebies.

She has her party yesterday and top "ooh" presents were;

Barbie horse set (she claims not to like Barbie anymore but ALL the girls loved this )
Beading Set
Hair Accessories and mirror (!)
Book Voucher
Jewellry
Girls World 'Head'
Crafty stuff
Paint your Own Tea Set

Good luck

haychee · 01/10/2007 15:42

Ooh presents for my dd party were money/cash.

Got the usual barbies etc and crafty stuff, hasnt touched any of it!

Sugarbabes cd, was a hit too.

Tortington · 01/10/2007 15:43

barbie

haychee · 01/10/2007 15:47

Pair of "skinny jeans"

Why does it seem my dd of just 7 is the only one who has seriously outgrown all the barbies, cbeebies and nursery rhymes?

dustystar · 01/10/2007 15:50

My dd loves crafty stuff.

Cappuccino · 01/10/2007 17:17

we are far more in hellish than in haychee territory

we do have a shedload of bleeding playmobil but I think she is bored with it

Barbies never made the grade

maybe Bratz yes

and some (oh god) pop music

in PE they listen to Girls Aloud

oh crap

what do I do for a party? we seem to have finished with the ball pool stage but christ I am not having them here

My dd loves sylvanian stuff and Polly Pockets. We did a trampolining party for her 7th.

dustystar · 01/10/2007 17:22

A trip to the cinema is a good one. I had dd's 7th birthday party at home and NEVER EVER again .

DD is now nearly 9 and I find that those pop compliations of the year's so called best music are the ones she likes best.

pointydog · 01/10/2007 17:33

polly pockets
animal hospital sets
chestnut ridge - the horsey sets if she's that way inclined

haychee · 01/10/2007 18:40

Am amazed at this thread.
DD2 is 4 and she loves pollypockets, bratz, barbies, animal hospital.
DD1 just turned 7 and is not in the slightest interested in any of this stuff.

OMG What is wrong with her???

hellish · 01/10/2007 21:30

dd1 is getting into music though, has commandeered my ipod
very keen on Avril Lavingne right now

hellish · 01/10/2007 21:33

dd1 had a gymnastics party, 12 girls entertained by coach, then party food, cakes and presents, very easy and they all loved it.

harrisey · 01/10/2007 21:39

We had dd1's 7th birthday party at home, We invited 6 girls, I got plain t shirts and fabric paints and we painted them, then ate pizza and watched a dvd (forget what). It went really well.

Dd1 will be 8 in Feb. She likes Bratz, Barbies, Littlest Petshop, Sylvanian Families, playstation, crafty arty stuff, reading, her diary adn notebooks (she seems to have millions of little notebooks with writing in), jewellry, hair stuff, has seen some of HSM at a friends but is happier with Pixar at the moment (though has a certain devotion to Han Solo in star wars, which I also had at the age of 7!)

Just getting into music - picks some things she likes off that radio and likes my Scissor Sisters cds!

Cappuccino · 02/10/2007 10:25

ok we are now thinking puppets cos dh's mate wants to get practice in puppet show business

puppets are okay yes?

oh and for birthday GENIUS idea

For my 7 year old god-daughters birthday 9her 7th) I have got her clothes, especially "girly" things. A pink fleece throw and cushion for her bed and a Girl's Aloud CD!

They are all different, god-daughter won't wear trousers at all, won't wear any tops that are cropped, sleeveless or see through. yet my cousin's 7 year old is all high heels, skiny jeans, boob tubes, see through crop tops etc etc. Theyw ere born 2 days apart, yet completely different tastes.

Fennel · 02/10/2007 10:30

my 7 and 6yo dds like:

Anything to do with animals. Real pets (hamsters, rabbit, guinea pigs), plus animal hospital, sylvanian families. Both good as you can add to them for future birthdays and christmas.

Outdoor things - mine like roller skating, skateboards, swingball, surfing, kayaking. cycling.

Anything arty crafty. Things to make, do or paint.

Things to do with dinosaurs/archaeology/history (excavate your own dinosaur sort of things).

Things to do with pirates. especially Girl Pirates.

Books, fact or fiction. My 6yo dd currently loves an Internet linked encyclopedia. I'm surprised but they often like to soak up facts at this age.

Mine DON'T like make up stuff or nail varnish or super-girly-pink stuff. I know lots of girls do but there are a fair number of this age who don't too.

quickdrawmcgraw · 02/10/2007 10:35

dd who is 7 loves her fish. She's convinced that they do tricks ie that they follow her finger and that they love when she leafs through a book in front of the tank
She and ds also have a hamster which she takes care of. Smelly but very easy to look after and have the advantage (over fish) of being cuddly.

I don't think 7 is too old for a puppet show. dd would still love that.
She also likes
HSM
cuddly toys
Pop party cds
Karioke machine
gymnastics

jellybelly25 · 02/10/2007 10:53

haychee think your dd and mine would get on... she is counting the yrs till shes a teenager

i would suggest a CD if you are stuck, something poppy, possibly karaoke too? i think pretending to be a pop strar is v popular

jellybelly25 · 02/10/2007 10:54

whats a pop strar? pop star i meant, obv...

Take her to a nail bar for a mini manicure
