Dd (7) is mainly into horse riding, reading and drawing.
She plays with Polly Pockets, occasionally her Baby Annabel/Bjorn, .
Enjoys anything crafty.
She has a huge dressing up box and often dresses up as a highland or ballet dancer. She is often given hand me down clothes from friends which I will vet for suitability. She was given a pair of shoes with a heel and they have been consigned to the dressing-up box.
She has no access to tv but watches dvds - all the disney favourites, bugs bunny etc.
Her choice of listening is usually story tapes .
Has seen a bit of High School Musical at a friends house. I know nothing about it.
She does not have her ears pierced, wear crop tops or have much interest in clothes other than as a body covering.
She is showing an interest in make-up and nail varnish but doesn't have any and I think a girls world head may be on the cards for Christmas

My MIL bought DD one for Christmas when she was 2 1/2. Needless to say it is now smeared with make-up and, bizarrely, it doesn't seem to come off. DD has only had it out about 3x - I keep it in the top of the wardrobe.

So do I and have thus far resisted, but would rather see lurid make-up on a plastic head than on dd

bozza · 02/10/2007 11:50

Well TBH I am more worried about the walls, carpet, furniture etc, hence why it is stored in the top of the wardrobe.

I think the fish tank is a brilliant idea.
We're getting a couple of kittens soon and they will be dd's responsibility (for how long remains to be seen), although to be fair she already helps out with the other animals.

For her 7th birthday I took her and a few friends to a huge soft play area (we took along our own cake). They loved it.
The year before I had them here and did some crafts with them, and a birthday tea.

I think one of her presents this year will be a digital camera. There was one on a thread the other day for £40. I think it was from Comet. She really enjoys taking photos.

digital camera a great idea, i am loving this thread as it's giving me great ideas.

Don't think puppet show is too young for 7 year olds, as long as the 'story' is not too babyish,

invaderzimlover123 · 15/08/2012 14:33

i think -bratz, barbie , winx club, disney princess, spongebob, hannah montanna, wizards of waverly place, disney channel, nickelodeon, and i think colouring books are great too Smile or a pet! ( or a zhu zhu pet toy Smile
i would NOT reccomend- monster high ( all the episodes of the web cartoon revolve around dating and clothes and the books are a no-no! too much sexualization!) , victorious ( too much b*tchy behaviour, icarly ( teaches sarcasm and bad behaviour Angry

Animagic type battery operated creatures that slurp milk, open mouths, wag tails & meow or bark.

Arts & craft sets, decorating wooden spoons or making something to hang in the window.

Lego?

A keyboard (musical not computer)?
