When did your baby start regularly sleeping through the night?

I mean an 8-10 hour stretch. I know each baby is different but I'm interested as to what the range is Smile

Definitely by the time I’d fully weaned off the breast c.9 months. Slept better from 6 months- solids/ own room/ sleep training all helped us.

Actually wakes me up more now she’s 3 and has sleep terrors and night talks

DD around 8months & DS not till after 1yr.

user1493413286 · 10/07/2020 22:24

It went up and down; she did for a bit at 6/7 months then started waking again then at 9/10 months after I did no cry sleep training she did but there have been bad phases even as old as 2 where she’ll wake in the night for a couple of weeks.
I’d love to know how people who got their babies to sleep through from 12 weeks managed it.

HarryHarry · 10/07/2020 22:24

First baby - still hasn’t happened consistently. He’s nearly 2.5.

Second baby - 3 or 4 months?

Wishing56 · 10/07/2020 22:27

At 7 weeks old my twins slept 7+hrs and it has gradually increased from there. They are now 21weeks and sleep 12 hours.

tractorvancar · 10/07/2020 22:27

About six months was the turning point, when we started solids and got him in his own room. I'd say he sleeps through about half the time though, and he'll be up once the rest of the time. Before that it was 2-5 times a night.

About 8 weeks Blush

She was a big baby and formula fed, she went to sleep about 7 or 8pm, had a dream feed at 11 and then slept through til morning.

Obviously there were some rough patches with teething, and she didn't like hot weather. Also as a toddler (once side of cot was off) she came into our bed from about midnight til morning - has only just stopped doing this at nearly 4.

gotothecooler · 10/07/2020 22:28

My quickest to sleep through was 6 weeks. The longest.....7 years

Babyg1995 · 10/07/2020 22:29

2 months been really lucky all 3 have been great sleepers

yomellamoHelly · 10/07/2020 22:30

dc1- 9 months
dc2 - 5 weeks
dc3 - 4 years

donkey86 · 10/07/2020 22:30

A few days before her first birthday. We ended up doing a form of controlled crying which was horrible for three or four nights, but she soon got the hang of things and we haven’t looked back since. Made me wish we’d tried it a few months earlier tbh.

Shelley54 · 10/07/2020 22:30

I'm with my 26m old right now. I don't think he's ever done 8hrs. He sometimes manages 6 or 7...

Tfoot75 · 10/07/2020 22:31

18 months and 4 years - sorry!!

UnaOfStormhold · 10/07/2020 22:31

End of his first term of reception so 4.5.

Mummyme87 · 10/07/2020 22:31

DS1 13months
DS2 is 2yr6m and has slept through 4 times ever

NannyPear · 10/07/2020 22:31

DC1 - he's 4 this month and still no luck
DC2 - he's 14 months and wakes hourly.
I often wonder if it's us?!

Ginnymweasley · 10/07/2020 22:32

My dd about 1
My ds well he is 2 and he still hasn't slept consistently for longer than 5 hrs.
Luck of the draw.

SpillTheTeaa · 10/07/2020 22:32

My DS has always been a good sleeper and I usually had to wake him for feeds but when he gained his birth weight HV said to stop waking during the night so I did. He was probably about 1.5 - 2 months.

Anotherscentedcandle · 10/07/2020 22:33

8 months

user1471481356 · 10/07/2020 22:33

Around 1.5 years old. For a few months. Then again about 2.5 for a few months and has now stopped again 🙄

MumOfFraggle · 10/07/2020 22:33

About six months or so - put her down at 7pm, dream feed at 11pm, then she'll sleep through until about 6am.

We don't go into her until about 7am though, as she's happy to babble and talk away to herself in her cot Grin
