I always remember the paddling pool being freeeezing as a child. I put warm water in for the kids.

I might experiment with cold. See if they can handle it

Yes we have an adapter for the hosed pipe so it goes on the kitchen tap through the window it’s like a bath ! Even I got in today and pretended I was at the spa 🤣

thomaszthetank · 09/05/2020 20:00

I remember my mum traipsing bowls of hot water through the kitchen to put in ours. We'd complain it was too cold otherwise Grin

I do the same for my children now when I have been able to (currently living in a flat)

It really depends on how hot the day is and how old the children are.

If it's close to 30°C then clearly there's no need to heat anything up. But the other day I brought a small plastic tub on the terrace for DS (19 months) and it wasn't a very warm day so I did put hot water in.

Nah let them crack on. If you're getting a pool out, it's because it's hot so it'll warm in the sun anyway.

BeetrootRocks · 09/05/2020 20:05

No, never even occurred to me to do so!

The kids seem fine!

Putting your foot in and going ooh ah is part of the point isn't it! It's the garden not a spa Grin

Abbccc · 09/05/2020 20:08

No

TwistyHair · 09/05/2020 20:09

@BeetrootRocks Grin fair point.

Are they nesh? Grin

Natsku · 09/05/2020 20:16

Last year I added hot water and it was such a faff that I don't think I'll bother this year as my toddler is perfectly happy pouring cold water over himself so cold paddling pool should be fine

CaryStoppins · 09/05/2020 20:19

Nope, freezing cold from the outdoor tap. Mine seem to be hardy!

Gunpowder · 09/05/2020 20:25

One of my friends has got a hot tap outside purely for the paddling pool! I’m jealous.

CoronaMoaner · 09/05/2020 20:27

Absolutely. It’s a small pool so o lay takes 3 or 4 kettles.
Mine are very small though, so o doubt they’d use it otherwise.

WhippedCreamInARoll · 09/05/2020 20:29

We do warm water and bubble bath Blush

RefuseTheLies · 09/05/2020 20:29

Yes. Our paddling pool is like a bath. Mainly because I like getting in it too and no way am I having freezing cold water.

icansmellburningleaves · 09/05/2020 20:29

I have a paddling pool for my dog. She loves it and doesn’t care if the water is cold😜

user200000000 · 09/05/2020 20:30

Yes.

Scruffyoak · 09/05/2020 20:33

Yep I do bowls of water like my mum used to do.

avocadoze · 09/05/2020 20:33

Never considered using warm water, but then I have Yorkshire roots.

ThisMustBeMyDream · 09/05/2020 20:35

Yup! £30 for a hot outdoor tap was worth every penny 🤣.

Bluntness100 · 09/05/2020 20:35

Don’t kids love this though? Put any small child in front of a sprinkler or paddling pool and they immediately want to get their kits off and get in, or run through the water.

Figmentofimagination · 09/05/2020 20:38

My toddler got a giant paddling pool for his birthday. Stood in it, cried that it was too cold and jumped back out. He refused to get in the rest of the day and instead used it as a giant water table.

MamaGothel · 09/05/2020 20:39

After toughing it out last year, I've got an attachment for the kitchen tap this year. Used it for the first time today and it was lovely! The kids spent a lot.more time in there as well. I even had a good old soak but I'm paying for it with sunburn.

TwistyHair · 09/05/2020 20:43

Are they nesh? big one is, little one isn’t. Little one is hard as nails.
