Please tell me I am not the only parent to let my sons wear tights...

?

Am I?
It is getting cold. I always put tights (navy) on my sons under their trousers in winter. I think I am the only one.

Do children need tights in addition to trousers when it is freezing cold in winter?

I think they do.

OHHH! you had family there! see i was thinkin gyou were just going for the heck of it!

It is quite magical actually. until you are in the 4th month of -30....

occasionally i do miss the snow though. not enough to spend christmas with my family though!!

I put tights on my toddler boy, boring colours like white or dark green or navy...fantastic way of keeping him warm. Builders in this country wear women's tights under their jeans in winter. Wouldn't do it on a school-age boy... not in school hours, anyway.

i did with mine ds - he is almost 4 now started as it was preventing him from scratching as he's got eczema.

it's fine in Russia! obviously it['s very cold in winter there so we don't have a choice really.

i beleive u need to keep your feet warm in winter. it's quite opposite to english - to keep your head warm so no suprise why almost all the foreiners are shocked when they see kids here with no socks in winter.

tights on boys are wrong unless they are ballet dancers. give the kids a chance in school before they get bullied.

???WHERE exactly is it cold at the moment?? Has been in the 20's in September most of the month where I live!

Here in Germany it is completely normal, as a few posters have mentioned. I will not be buying tights this winter for DS though (3yo) as I think he is too big for them. I might go for some longjohns.

Good place for tights/longjohns

This thread made me smile. This morning I ws taking ds to school and I passed another mum who was getting her baby out of the car and into buggy. He had shorts on and at a glance I thought he had tights on, then thought, no, they must be long socks. I said 'God, I thought baby ds had tights on for a minute Ha Ha!!'

She said - he has, they are boy tights from Germany actually
