How far do you walk?

3/4 mile

When I saw this in active convos I thought it was a cod thread because of typo/subject matter.

I'm starting to feel sorry for my dd. She walks 1.5 miles each way. Big hills each direction. First day back it took us 34 mins, now down to 26! I think that is more to do with my fitness than hers!

We walk 1.25 miles every morning but often take the car or bus back if dd1 is at afterschool. Why?

brandnewhelsy · 11/09/2007 13:09

Oh, sorry, I see why now. Half a mile - pah!

miobombino · 11/09/2007 14:15

Dd is too far away now to walk (uses a school bus), but happily walked 1.2 miles daily to her old school, from age 4. Partially up hill but mainly down. We didn't always do the walk home though as there were school runs for her brothers at different times and from a different school.
Ds3 is now at the same school - in the nursery part as he's only 3 - and can scoot/walk the journey quite well. Much nicer than driving, and no parking stress.

nailpolish · 11/09/2007 14:16

200 yards !

Blu · 11/09/2007 14:19

about 400m

theimpsmum · 11/09/2007 14:30

Its just under a mile away, and takes 20 mins to get there.

We've recently moved to this school and by Friday of last week I was dead on my feet, lol, but I'm hoping it will get easier the further into the term we go and help me lose abit of weight.
After half term my DS starts nursery in the mornings, next door to the school, so that will bring the total of trips to 6 aday

Smithagain · 12/09/2007 12:57

Don't know how far, but it takes 20-25 minutes. Probably slightly over a mile.

Was very proud of DD when she informed her godmother that her school was "very close to my house". She was 4 at the time. Godmother was stunned - her 10 year old used to complain about walking half the distance.

Walking to school is fab - by the time she gets there we have had a good chat, had some exercise, got rid of any early morning stroppiness (both of us) and she is ready to sit down and listen to the teacher.

Anna8888 · 12/09/2007 13:43

1.7 km. Just under 20 mins walk on my own, rather a lot longer with my daughter (2.10). Usually take the bus for part of the way when I'm with her.

Lact8 · 12/09/2007 13:46

About 20 steps from our gate to the school gate.

CarGirl · 12/09/2007 13:47

about a mile each way, I can powerwalk in 15 mins but with the dc have to allow 25 mins unless they are on their bikes

indiasmum · 12/09/2007 13:47

dh walks ds1 to school- about a mile/mile and a half. i collect him in car.
ds2 i walk to school- about 400 yards! would be even shorter if i was allowed to drop him over the fence!

francagoestohollywood · 12/09/2007 13:52

I'll see you soon hopefully (won't do the schoolrun today I think)

daisyandbabybootoo · 12/09/2007 14:22

less than half a mile there, but we usually run as we are either late going in the morning, or I am late for pick up!
