How far do you walk?

About 3/4 of a mile I guess.
Takes about 10 mins.

Well within the range of a school-age kid IMHO.

Lol at "only walk if weather is good".

princessmel · 10/09/2007 13:48

About a mile.

bagpuss · 10/09/2007 13:50

He's too young yet but when the time comes we'll be able to lob him over the wall cos it's next door to us

3/4 mile each way. Atm dd is walking it 2 or 4 times a day, but when in school proper, she and ds1 do it twice a day.

chloesmumtoo · 10/09/2007 13:55

Well we tend to be selective with the weather of course, but have been driving to school lately but walking home esp getting them back into the swing of things. I have dd 5 and ds 10. Our walk is only 20 minutes

Aefondkiss · 10/09/2007 14:00

1 mile there, flat, but I cycle with them in bike buggy just now, though will have to get dd on her own bike soon, my ds is not keen to walk, he is 3, we have some small country road to walk, but most is on pavement...

controlfreaky2 · 10/09/2007 14:02

1 mile each way

MerlinsBeard · 10/09/2007 14:02

don't know in distance. if DS2 is in the trolley then its 10/15 mins.
if he walks its a good half hour!!

fizzylemonade · 10/09/2007 14:05

Just over 1/2 mile from home to the school, ds1 walked it daily for preschool at 3 yr old.

Lumos · 10/09/2007 14:06

Drive there mainly cos I'm always rushing off somewhere straight from school or we are late leaving. Walk home, aside from the exercise the car park is a fricking nightmare! My car has been broken into, various long term filthy looks exchanged with mums becuse someone got to parking space first blah blah.

Oh and walk is about a mile

missinout · 10/09/2007 15:02

About a 10 minute walk for us, and, would you believe that there are children who live closer than us who get driven there!!

juuule · 10/09/2007 17:34

Just over a mile to the school. Takes about 20mins.

NannyL · 10/09/2007 18:09

our walk is anything from 12+ mins... depending on if and how long we get stuck at the railway!

We have been stuck at the railway crossing for 14 minutes once

McEdam · 10/09/2007 18:17

We walk every day - no choice, I don't drive (yet). I think it's about a mile - takes me 15mins to walk back, obv. takes longer to walk with ds (he is only four and he likes to stop and admire insects/climb on walls/acquire sticks etc. etc. etc.).

McEdam · 10/09/2007 18:19

Nanny, at least your kids are (hopefully) learning that you don't muck about at level crossings. Too many people are killed every year because they try to beat the lights. They don't seem to understand that trains just can't stop within less than at least mile even in an emergency. And weigh many times what even the biggest 4x4 weighs.

mankyscotslass · 11/09/2007 12:37

It's a 10 minute walk at a brisk pace, do the trip there and back 3 times a day at the moment.

McDreamy · 11/09/2007 12:38

5 minute walk (on a good day) can take up to 20 minutes!!!!

Twinkie1 · 11/09/2007 12:38

3 minutes to the local primary - hoorah!

DS goes on his little bike and DD walks - we have a zebra crossing manned by the old man of the village who is impossible to get past without a 5 minute conversation so it makes our daily walk to school 8 minutes!

fryalot · 11/09/2007 12:39

About as far as to the end of our garden (but the other way)

quickdrawmcgraw · 11/09/2007 12:40

dd and ds get the walking bus to school. It's one mile and takes about 30 mins because we often have to wait for dawdlers at the 'bus stop'

bozza · 11/09/2007 12:40

5 mins walk at 2yo pace. Now DD is 3 it takes even less time.

PandaG · 11/09/2007 12:41

15 moin walk up a steep hill there with DC, is less than 10 mins when I walk it on my own
