When did you first leave baby?

Just wondered what age everyone's littles were when you first went out without them? My husband really wants us to go out for a date night - just dinner and cinema and leave our lo with her gran. He wants us to have some us time and thinks it would do us "a world of good". I know where he's coming from, but I also don't want to leave my LG yet! She's almost 8 weeks so she's still tiny and no one else has looked after her yet.

I have to go back to uni at the end of this month so for a few days a week I'll have to leave her with family - and Im dreading it. I feel like these are my days to be with her without interruption, so I don't want a date night that will take me away from her!

But at the same time, if dh feels its something he needs and it's only for a few hours I don't want to ignore him, or make him feel pushed out.

Anyone else had this?

He was about 5 weeks old. We went out for a meal and MIL looked after him.

And then when he was 12 weeks old I had to go back to work. It was the late 1980s and I wasn't entitled to paid maternity leave as I hadn't worked for the same employer for long enough as I was made redundant beforehand. My new employer was great, they took me on when I was pregnant, but I wasn't entitled to anything apart from SMP for 11 weeks at £31. Which didn't pay the mortgage.

You don't realise how lucky you are to have the maternity leave provisions today. I just wish I'd had them too.

6 months, but I breastfed mine so couldn't leave them (might have nipped to the supermarket before then but never more than 30 mins

We went out for a meal for our anniversary on our own when DS was 4 months old, and have had nights out together about once a month since. He stayed out for the first time last weekend at 9 months old. It’s whatever feels right to be honest.

I will add that my husband had him many times pre 4 months so I could go out etc, but the first time he was left without either of us was 4 months.

4 days. I had a melt down, was seriously not OK, ds had been on the breast for 16 hours, I had slept in 2 days DH called my mum as he didn't know what to do and she came over made me a cup of tea, tucked me up in bed and took my son for 3 hours so I could sleep. Did me the world of good. He was 3 weeks for his first over night.

My DD is 8 weeks and I've only left her for 30 mins this past weekend. It was unplanned but she was fed, changed and asleep on MIL so we nipped to run an errand. It's DH's 30th in a few weeks and I'd like to take him out for dinner so will ask PIL to take her for a few hours, though she's EBF so I'm nervous about giving her enough expressed milk! I think I'll go overkill but I'd rather spare than not enough. PIL have been hassling ya since DD was 2 weeks old to leave her with them but I just don't want to leave her yet, she's still my tiny girl. Leave her when you're ready, it's no one else's decision. Good luck x
