Suggest a Nappy

I use cloth full time and DS is only in disposibles when me and DH are at work. MIL claims she can't grip nappies (fluffle nippa) .

I hate disposibles, and now I can't stand the chemical smell and the gel beads...arghh. I've become snobby about what gets near ds' bum!

What nappy would you all suggest? Just to give it another go? I need a easy practical nappy.

Bumgenius. Looks like the cloth equivalent of a Pampers active fit or whatever they call them these days. Expensive but only one size needed and they don't need a wrap.

FlameFlamingo · 03/08/2007 21:51

Yup, bumgenius does look the most disposable-y.

Mother-ease all-in-one
any pocket style nappy

bumgenius or fuzzis though mil may struggle with poppers on a fuzzi - a velcro fastening nappy of another sort - happy heiny? - bumgenius is the most sposie like pocket though i suppose and I LOVE EM!!!

nappyzone · 03/08/2007 22:00

i have them here. they are £14 and yes numpty proof - i am proof of that as i only use numpty approved cloth!

mozzybear · 03/08/2007 22:00

Yeah nappyzone... I'd gathered that y'know!

sorry do i keep bangin on about them !!! lol - pockets will rule the cloth world!! ok well maybe mine!

mozzybear · 03/08/2007 22:06

How well do they wash? I have white/cream nappies, if I was feeling adventurous and bought blue, would I need to wash them seperately?

OP posts:
FlameFlamingo · 03/08/2007 22:13

I've not had a pocket run before

nappyzone · 03/08/2007 22:13

i have a mixture of all coloured pockets that are made of similar materials, i also have creamy bambineos and i have chucked them all in together and the colours have never changed. Some say for the first wash - you know the one before they ever wear it which i never do, that you should wash a nappy seperatly but i have only ever found colour run when i have washed a new coloured fleece item (tots red wrap or minki fleece pocket type) which these arent. that was a babble after a few southern comforts so i hope it makes sense. SO i think the answer was no you wouldnt have to.

CarGirl · 03/08/2007 22:17

I'm considering selling my hempresto system for 20lb to potty training - they are a bomb proof nappy (much more reliable than pocket nappies) and go on like an all in one nappy you just popper them on, you then take off the wrap to wash them so they wash and dry quick - they are hemp so very absorbant - so she shouldn't need to change that often anyway!

FlameFlamingo · 03/08/2007 22:20

I've wanted to try hempresto for aaaaaaaaaaages!!!

(obv if mozzy isn't interested...)

mozzybear · 03/08/2007 22:23

Think MIL would complain about poppers. But thanks for the thought

mozzybear · 03/08/2007 22:25

Nappyzone... is there any lemonade in that Southern Comfort?

OP posts:
CarGirl · 03/08/2007 22:25

If I sell my hempresto it would be a whole set I think, let me know if you are interested?????

Just thinking give her some kushie ultras to use and when she complains that they are not that good explain to her that's why we use fluffles......................!

CarGirl · 03/08/2007 22:26

Flame - I have one small hempresto nappy/wrap/insert that I can sell on it's own though but I think your ds is too big now?

FlameFlamingo · 03/08/2007 22:27

Bum Yup

nappyzone · 03/08/2007 22:29

ermm no we have ran out of lemonade.

FlameFlamingo · 03/08/2007 22:33

I prefer JD myself... or Penderyn (daryn?!)

mozzybear · 03/08/2007 22:33

Cargirl - She already thinks I some kinda eco warrior lentil weaver nut!!

Are they the compostable ones? Would love to suggest that just to see her face if they are.

CarGirl · 03/08/2007 22:35

kushie ultras are washables but they go on like disposables, fasten with velcro - you can buy them in mothercare????? Look on Nappy Lady to pick some up 2nd hand? They are not as reliable as 2 piece systems but very easy to use.

FlameFlamingo · 03/08/2007 22:36

Kushies are crap though - they leak everywhere and look really uncomfortable.

I think I can still get velcro swaddlebees

FlameFlamingo · 03/08/2007 22:36

sorry, maybe too much wine

CarGirl · 03/08/2007 22:38

If he does solid poo and isn't a heavy wetter then kusie ultras can be okay? Or actually with one of mine I used kushie classics with a velcro wrap and they were actually pretty darn good and so cheap to buy 2nd hand!
