Nappies that don't soak through for the night

My 3 month old has just started to sleep from about 8-9. I change him before bed, but come morning he's absolutely soaked through to his clothes.

Obviously I don't want to be waking him up during the night just to change his nappy but he's so uncomfortable come morning and he's started to become chapped.

We've used Aldi, Asda and Morrisons brand nappies. Does anyone have any recommendations? He's in size 2 at the moment.

I've always used Pampers and only had the occasional overnight leak (usually if I've not put the nappy on too well!)

00Sassy · 09/08/2019 10:10

We’ve always used pampers baby dry for overnight and they’ve been really good.

Some people still have problems with them leaking though.

All I can think is that it’s down to the individual shape of the child that certain nappies do better than others.

Have you tried going a size up? When they leak it can be a sign of that. Otherwise pampers baby dry or Tesco Fred and flo worked for us.

Demimac1919 · 09/08/2019 10:13

We have had no problem with Aldi nappies I have tried them all and they're my favourite but as my daughter got older we put a pullup on top of her bedtime nappy to keep her extra dry. It's worked a treat and usually the pullup doesn't get damp in the slightest. Perhaps try 2 nappies for bed??

Nightmanagerfan · 09/08/2019 10:15

Have you considered reusables? There are some
Good night nappies out there and we have never had a leak with our four month old who Wees a lot overnight. A two part system eg little lamb bamboo nappy and wrap is a good place to start.

My DD wees for England during the night, we've found the best bet is using the 'plus' nappies from Aldi. At the moment we're in the 4+ size and they do contain all the wee, but they do pretty much reach maximum capacity because she sleeps for so long, and almost always her pjs end up smelling of wee from being in such close contact with a mega full nappy so she needs fresh pjs every night, but her sleep bag doesn't smell so it obviously isn't actually leaking, just getting very full.
That's been our compromise, I found it really really wasn't worth waking her to change the nappy in the night once she started sleeping all the way through, she bloody hates it 😂 if the little gremlin is happy to marinade in her wee nappy until she wakes up, I can live with it 😊

We've used aldi nappies from
The start and I've always raved about them but the last week or so my little one had been waking up wet in the morning, I remember seeing somebody post that they'd changed the pull ups so maybe they did with the regular nappies too

ajones31 · 09/08/2019 10:16

Thanks everyone. Do the baby dry ones start from a minimum size?

Pampers and Huggies tend to be the best for overnight

Oflawrence · 09/08/2019 10:16

Agree with pp try using a size up

one2 · 09/08/2019 10:16

I agree with vanannabananna about moving up a size. I've found with both of mine that this has done the trick when they started to leak at night. Might be worth a try seeing as you'll be using the next size up in the near future anyway.

ajones31 · 09/08/2019 10:19

He has a mixture of size 2 and 3 nappies at the moment (MIL bought us the bigger sizes just in case). It still happens even when he's wearing the size 3

At three months old, he should stay asleep if you do a nappy change.

ajones31 · 09/08/2019 10:22

@Starrynights86 I wish he did but he's such a light sleeper Sad

I was going to say Asda, they seemto absorb a heroic amount of wee. If he's ready for size 3, try the Pampers nappy pants. They are really padded at the front and the only things that stops front sleeping dd from leaking (now 2 and we've been using them since she fit them). Theg are expensive but always half price somewhere.

Zebrasinpyjamas · 09/08/2019 10:26

Try the 3+ size. It's not really bigger than 3 but is meant to be more absorbent. My DC often needed the plus sizes at night.

Make sure it's relatively fitted around the legs (not super tight) with the frills out as leaks are probably coming from there.

Putapeonyinyourpocket · 09/08/2019 10:27

We had this as my lo likes to sleep on his front. Love the Aldi nappies, normal size on with the next size up on top. It hadn't happened since.

AaaaaaarghhhWhereAreMyKeys · 09/08/2019 10:47

We use pampers premium for night only and Aldi or Asda ones in the day.

User2222 · 09/08/2019 10:50

Pampers baby dry. Best on the market imo. I've tried all supermarket brands. They all leak and cause rashes. Never had a problem with Pampers. Jumbo packs are on offer at morrisons atm £7 for 60+ nappies. Usually £11-£12.

ArtichokeAardvark · 09/08/2019 10:52

Pampers are the only nappies I've found that don't leak overnight. They're pricey so I keep them for nighttimes and use Asda during the day Smile

ajones31 · 09/08/2019 10:54

Thank you everyone, think I'm going to try Pampers Premium, half price in Tesco at the moment! And will stick with using supermarket own brand during the day time

Boots sell waterproof pants that are meant to go over reusable nappies but I put them on DS over a disposable (Pampers) and it stopped his pjs getting soaked.

2beautifulbabs · 09/08/2019 11:02

Pampers baby dry are the best I've used it on both my children and never had issues

PixieLumos · 09/08/2019 15:26

Go up a size or try the +sizes (I used to think they were bigger nappies, but they actually just have a greater absorbancy - we use 4s in the day and a 4+ at night.)
