Mine are all worn out...

nappyzone · 31/07/2007 20:34

some of mine are getting to small - i had to give up my fave drybee today as it just dont fit no more! , i was going to sell it on but decided to put it in his 'special' box instead. I have a couple of years of nappy fun to look fwd to and im sure the novelty will wear off!

I have a box full of nappies and cant wait to use them lol. I keep getting the box out to 'check' what nappies I have lol, DH thinks i'm going mad. My gosh did he get a stern look when he asked me what i was going to do when the baby is out of nappies. My answer was 'become very good at playing with my girls' dolls lol ;)

Mine are all in the wash now bar 3 so the sun better be out tomorow! My dh is getting worried now as depsite swearing two kids is enough i am now telling him we need another so we can get our moneys worth out of the nappies and for the business as it needs a tester! Im not really that mad but i like to wind him up! Tomorow is a bumgenius and fuzzi day for us as today was blueberries and heinys day! Thursday is already put aside as a two parter day as my mum who thought i was mad for using cloth really wants to see my new wacky wrap! I really must get out more often loL!!!

Ooh I wish I could say the same! I was really keen on the idea but have found them too bulky and was always behind on emptying the drier or clearing the drying.. We now use EC instead, with cloth nappies just at night mainly now. Plus DD outgrew the size 1s far too quickly as so chubby!

mamawhyte · 31/07/2007 21:06

I actually took a picture of my neatly stacked nappy basket the other day...and showed it to my friend!! God, she must think i'm mad, but I adore them. I'm not sure why - dh hates them and tries to sneakily use disposables whenever he gets the chance (which will soon be never again as I used cloth nappies for the first time overnight last night and she was dry in the morning - that took the smug grin off his face - he was convinced it wouldn't work)! I said that cloth nappies HAD to be used overnight before disposables were invented, so it must work AND I WAS RIGHT!! Hoorah for cloth nappies!!!

nappyzone · 31/07/2007 21:07

I have more trouble with clothes when i use disposables - he kinda crawls out of his jeans - i find his clothes at least stay on when hes more bulked out.

nappyzone · 31/07/2007 21:13

well done mamawhyte!! What did you use for your overnight success? My DH has enthsiastic moments and then sneaky sposie moments - i went out the other night and ds had a poo while i was out - dh actually put him in cloth instead of ransacking the car for a travelling sposie which gained him star points! He did however place the offending nappy in an asda carrier bag and leave it at the door for me to 'deal with'. I have taken a photo of my washing line on a few occaisions and now arrange my washing so all the inserts and white ones are on one line of my rotary airer thing and all the bright pocket covers are on the other. . Glad im not the only one!

OP posts:
mamawhyte · 31/07/2007 21:26

oh...I dream of having a rotary line so I can watch my nappies fluttering in the breeze...

I actually used two terries and a large nature babies wrap but she really did look like i'd pushed her legs through a football. I was a bit worried she'd accidentally roll over in the night and would be so weighed down that she couldn't get back over onto her back!

Was thinking of trying an Ella's House hemp and a terries plus motherease wrap tonight as it might be less bulky. What do you think?

nappyzone · 31/07/2007 21:40

you wont know till you try! sounds dooable. I have used mainly std minki stuffed with ellas house hemp or microfibre wrapped in a prefold on a night - looked huge but worked, bambineo with tots fleece wrap and microfibre, fuzzi stuffed with a microfibre and ellas house hemp and a bumgenius the same with mfibre and ellas house hemp. All worked for me. Go for it and report back - if your little one is swimming up the cot you know it wasnt enough lol!! I always have a middle of the night check when im doing a new combo.

mamawhyte · 31/07/2007 21:44

Righteo - i'll be brave. I'll let you know how it goes.

nappyzone · 31/07/2007 21:48

just remember to put some arm bands in the cot too , mine is in a sposie tonight as he has had the splotters again and what was left in my basket wouldnt do the night shift. tut tut

OP posts:
mamawhyte · 31/07/2007 21:53

lol "splotters" ... will have to remember that one!!

FlameParakeet · 31/07/2007 23:49

Disps are terrible at night for us... especially as DS has worked out how to get his hands into his pjs and take the things off

hippopowell · 01/08/2007 07:28

I love my cloth nappies too. I just love co-ordinating nappy wraps & outfits. I bought a nappy & matching cover from puddlepants for her Christening but couldn't resist using it before the day, so had to buy another set for the day so it was still special(well that's what I told DH, not sure he fell for it)Before my dd arrived I would sit and stroke my nappy pile sorting things out , arranging them beautiful in her room.I keep taking lovely pics of her in just a nappy or nappy & wrap & sending it to family, but they just don't understand how gorgeous she looks!!!!(oh dear I just read this back, I do need to get out more)

mamawhyte · 01/08/2007 08:09

Just to let you know, it worked brilliantly!!!

derah · 01/08/2007 09:06

There's a public footpath through the middle of my garden (don't ask!!) so when I hang my nappies out I make sure all the prettiest ones are on the outer line for everyone to see, cos I feel that everyone should appreciate my gorgeous nappies as much as I do!!

derah · 01/08/2007 09:14

Those of you wondering about cloth at night, we usually use a regular nappy with 4 (yes, 4!) boosters and a wool wrap, and have never had any trouble with leaks. But I have recently discovered Quick Flips, which are very very absorbant for night time and we only need to add one booster. Cloth at night is really no more of a problem than cloth during the day. Even if they end up with a huge bum, at least you don't have to squeeze trousers over them!

FlameParakeet · 01/08/2007 09:37

Quick flips are fab

nappyzone · 01/08/2007 11:06

excellent mama whyte - i think i will have a night time experiment with a bamboo peapod and night booster tonight - there supposed to do the job but im not convinced i trust it fully for the night. Im feeling adventurous. I went to baby clinic today - having no nice ones dry in time i squeezed him in the 'special' box drybee for one last time - i have to face facts it doesnt fit properly, will wash it again and put away for good, bgs and fuzzis now dry for when he ever bothers to wake up! Im really excited about my wacky wrap and two parter day tomrow as im even going to finally road test my demo teddy before i order a stack in. Dh asked last night did i think i could do with my car changing to something newer (something i used to get really excitd about!) - i was like hmm whatever but do you think we should have a lime or red dudy dog wacky wrap - he just shook his head.

LOL me too! DH just doesn't get it (a poo catcher is a poo catcher right?)and just looks baffled when i show him my latest nappy/wrap.
I hang all my nappies around the outside of my rotary airer with other washing on the inside-just to make sure they get maximum sun of course...

kyala · 01/08/2007 16:42

I love using cloth nappies too but you guys are all talking a foreign language LOL

Just had a quick look at the nappyzone site, looks cool! The designs are the most original things I've seen so far (usually just plain or unisex, boring)
But will have to wait a couple of months before I can justify buying any more wraps etc (as I've just bought a couple on Ebay and DH thoguth that was bad enough LOL)

Going to have another look to see if I can decipher what you lot are on about LOL

nappyzone · 01/08/2007 19:07

awww thanks - i did it myself and that makes me smile. I have put him to bed in a regular peapod with night booster - a bit nervous, will have to do a middle of the night pj feel.

Claireybee - i bet you even have the patterns/ colours facing the outside though dont you so that the sun doesnt get max exposure on the white stained bit - i know the tricks!!!

mamawhyte · 01/08/2007 19:13

Good luck nappyzone! Let me know how it goes!

Flamestorm · 01/08/2007 19:38

Ah now, see I try to keep the patterns on the inside so they don't fade
