What does baby wear to bed in this heat?

Yep I’m being thick but just wondering what everyone puts baby in for bed in this heat? My little girl is one and last night she just had pyjamas on but I’m thinking tonight and tomorrow with how warm it is forecast to be would she be better in shorts and T-shirt pyjamas or is she likely to get cold come the early hours? Just curious what everyone else does?

Vest bodysuit?

BertieBotts · 22/07/2019 08:31

We have got a thermometer in the bedroom, if it's 23/24 degrees I put him to bed in a short sleeved vest or a short romper suit, without vest.

If it's 21-22 long sleeved pyjamas over a vest, no covers. Sometimes if borderline or changing as it gets later, I do just pyjama trousers over the vest or add a blanket when we go to bed.

20 or cooler I use a sleeping bag or blanket as well.

Just try it out? What's the worst that can happen? Check her when you go to bed.

Just a vest for my baby. But considering just a nappy if it gets even hotter? We bed share so my body heat is like another layer. No covers on either of us

Ribeebie · 22/07/2019 14:30

0.5tog sleeping bag and a nappy for my DS

FixTheBone · 22/07/2019 14:33

Sleepsuit and a vest for our 7-month-old.

Lmcd18 · 22/07/2019 17:56

Just romper PJ's for my wee lady she is 21 mths

MeadowHay · 22/07/2019 21:04

Depends on temperature in the room, can you get a thermometer? We have the GroEgg. I've always found this stressful tbh though as obviously the temperature when she goes to bed is not the same as at its coolest in the early hours. Tonight it was around 23.5 in the room and she has gone to sleep in a long-sleeved vest with a 1 tog sleeping bag but her sleeping bag is not fastened up and she is half hanging out of it. If it goes down to 22 or less by the time we go to bed then I will zip her up in it but if not then I will leave her be or just drape it a bit over some of her as she's probably mostly out of it now with her wriggling about.

Mine get sticky thighs. I do too and I find it really uncomfortable . They wore shorts and a zero tog sleeping bag (made of a single layer of thick cotton).

buzzkills · 23/07/2019 06:28

0.5 tog bag, short PJs and nappy.

It is a bit cooler where I am.

stucknoue · 23/07/2019 06:51

Problem is the temperature drops, around 3,4am it was cool enough for me to need to pull up my duvet. A cotton sleepsuit plus light blanket is fine - then they can kick off the blanket and pull it over themselves. By a year they know if they are hot or not! Newborns are harder but they don't sleep through the night

FairfaxAikman · 23/07/2019 06:52

Baby grow and nappy here. It was 26 degrees last night but we have a ceiling fan so want to keep the chill off him.

mindutopia · 23/07/2019 07:18

Mine last night was in a long sleeved vest with 1.0 tog sleeping bag. It was 21/22c in his room. I just follow what the gro bag chart says. If it was any warmer, I’d put him in a short sleeved vest.

SoyDora · 23/07/2019 07:21

How are people keeping bedrooms cool? It was 27 degrees in 6 month old DS’s room last night! He went to bed in a nappy.

OvalCanvas · 23/07/2019 07:21

It was 26 degrees in our room last night , our toddler slept in a cotton vest (proper one without poppers) and shorts.

knottybeams · 23/07/2019 07:33

20m old is rocking a nappy only right now. His room is hot hot hot though.

user1493413286 · 23/07/2019 07:36

I put DD to bed in just a nappy last night; she has a little duvet that I then put over her legs when I went to bed. Our house was about 25 last night though

Di11y · 23/07/2019 07:44

vest and 1 tog sleep sack

SS1987 · 23/07/2019 07:50

Thanks for everyone’s replies! I tried her in long pyjama bottoms and a T-shirt but think tonight it will be just a vest considering it’s not even 8 o’clock and it’s already 21 degrees 😩 I’m not completely sure I trust the gro egg, it said 27 degrees all night?

0.5 tog bag to prevent nappy interference...

Rockpool5 · 23/07/2019 08:03

These are good. babymori.com/collections/baby-sleepsuits/products/sage-summer-sleepsuit?variant=19650632810582

Very cool as they are made with bamboo, and quite loose fitting.

Falafel19 · 23/07/2019 08:46

Short sleeve pj top and nappy, 20 month old and he sleeps mostly outside the duvet.

mumderland · 23/07/2019 11:04

This guide is really useful. DD room was 25/26 last night and she had a vest and 0.5tog grobag

What does baby wear to bed in this heat?
Rarfy · 23/07/2019 15:22

I tend to go by the grobag guide but never feel like our room is as hot as it says it is. Swinging between 24-25 at the minute.

The nught before last dd wore a short sleeved vest and only that then last night we tried a jojomamanbebe sleeping bag with nothing underneath. Dd slept through both nights as per but I must say as I checked on her through the night she felt cool to touch last night. I think she would have been fine with a sleeveless vest and the sleeping bag.

It's hard because I can still quite comfortably sleep under at 10tog duvet especially in the early hours.
