Which baby wipes work best on a newborn? Are any of these a hype/ waste? Any personal experiences? Thinking of buying a couple/ few brands to try them out, but want to buy in bulk so asking so don’t waste too much money! Don’t really want all them added ingredients to make his skin sore. Am due in under 11 weeks and want to stock up so I’m all ready 😬

Aveeno
Water wipes
Pampers pure

Water wipes for newborn then we went to Aldi

Hedgehogblues · 15/05/2019 20:38

We just use damp cotton wool pads

Gemzee · 15/05/2019 20:40

I have used Asda little angels (sensitive/fragrance free) since my 10 month old was born, had no issues and they work well.

Cotton wool pads, the large ones for removing makeup were great for the first few weeks, then went to dove baby as they seemed to have the least ingredients in the ‘normal’ price range!

happymummy12345 · 15/05/2019 20:45

We used pampers premium protection new born at first (yellow packet), then went to pampers premium protection (white and green packet).
We used water wipes if he was very sore. (They didn't have pampers pure then. Now I'd use them as I like pampers wipes best).

Mylittlepony374 · 15/05/2019 20:45

In ICU when my son was newborn they would only use water wipes or cotton wool& water. I've used Aldi sensitive for both mine though, never any issues.

StrumpersPlunkett · 15/05/2019 20:47

Tesco value flannels cut up into 3” squares.
Washed fantastically and fab for getting off meconium

TurquoiseLagoon · 15/05/2019 20:47

We use cheeky wipes. They're washable / reusable and really great. The minky ones are really soft

bitchfromhell · 15/05/2019 20:48

Cotton wool and water, then at about 6 weeks Aldi sensitive. Only ever had nappy rash in week 2 from a rogue package of Pampers pure.

Pipandmum · 15/05/2019 20:49

At home cotton and water. Out and about I think it was Baby Johnson wipes. Kinda remember one called Just Water?

Cherylshaw · 15/05/2019 20:50

My little one always got a red bum when I used any pampers wipes, I used just water and cottonwood pads for first couple of weeks and now use the coop ones or Sainsbury's

Camsie30 · 15/05/2019 20:51

I like aqua wipes, they are 99% purified water and biodegradable. I've used them on my now 13 week old son from birth and they're lovely

Disfordarkchocolate · 15/05/2019 20:53

I used cotton wool and water for 6 weeks then switched to wipes. If I was doing it now I'd be looking for something washable instead.

TheseThingsAreFunAndFunIsGood · 15/05/2019 20:53

We used cotton pads and water for newborn then Jackson Reece wipes after that as they are compostable/biodegradable and one of the few affordable eco friendly wipes around when DC are tiny... There are a few more now (Aldi do them now as well I think??) so totally doable to avoid the plastic based ones - apparently they take over 100 years to break down!! 😮

MustardScreams · 15/05/2019 20:53

Waterwipes all the way for a newborn. I couldn’t be chuffed with cotton wool and water. Then moved onto whichever was on offer.

Not huggies though, they’re a crap papery material and I kept poking my finger through into poo Envy

LuckyKitty13 · 15/05/2019 20:55

Washable cheeky wipes all the way!

lboogy · 15/05/2019 20:56

Aqua wipes - chosen because they biodegrade and mostly made of water. Also cheaper than water wipes

MyKingdomForBrie · 15/05/2019 20:58

Water wipes, nothing else compares.

kenandbarbie · 15/05/2019 21:10

I used water wipes from birth, they were great.

moreismore · 15/05/2019 21:12

Cheeky wipes! Used until DC1 potty trained and they’re still going strong for DC2

Dermymc · 15/05/2019 21:13

Cheeky wipes. They are washable and reusable and far far cheaper. One of the best purchases ever for our little one. Using them 2.5 years later and will use for any subsequent children.

HoustonBess · 15/05/2019 21:21

Cheeky wipes here too.

firstimemamma · 15/05/2019 21:23

We used warm water and cotton wool to start with then water wipes and bepanthen

Coldhandscoldheart · 15/05/2019 21:28

I wiped my face with a water wipe once and it stung.
So never used them again. Would echo home made cloth wipes are very good, cotton and water initially. I like Aveno, but they’re expensive & not much better than any other. Aldi sensitive have always been fine too.

Dermymc · 15/05/2019 21:32

YY to wiping your face with them and see how much they hurt!
