Hi, I'm sure this has been posted before at some point but I'm just looking for advice on people who gave there child (or is going to) the MMR vaccines (and the hib menB and pcv that are given on the same day/time)
My baby has had all her injections from when she was born and the next coming up are her one year old ones. But I'm having people tell me it causes autism? People sending me links of baby's before and after the jabs? A perfectly healthy baby and suddenly is fitting everyday and has developed basically autism and wasn't the same again? Is this true? I don't want my baby getting ill by not getting it done and I was happily going to do it but no way do I want to make her change into someone different. I've seen loads of baby's that haven't changed from having though? But what are your thoughts?

article on the BBC today about an outbreak in the US in an area where vaccination rates have been falling.

New York county declares measles outbreak emergency https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-47715169

@Mommaxx You're fab - can see you're really thinking about what's best for your child Smile

I've spent a long time on medical sites who report from studies on Vaccines because I don't like propaganda. I have done this because my first child had a reaction to the first lot of vaccines. I have found if I write ANYTHING about facts of vaccines I get 'flamed' for being anti-vax but no one has walked our shoes. Ex-vax is not anti-vax. After research and reading many studies from peer reviewed medical sites and the vaccine inserts, I won't take the risk again. Websites even block my messages when I point to any valid informative Government pages or even the likes of the BMJ, NCBI, FDA, NLM, even vaccine inserts about the possible complications from vaccinations. Everything is pro vaccination every which way I turn. There is no room for an open discussion or sharing sites study data. I usually get a message now which says we are unable to post your message. Please check the guidelines. Japan has no vaccine mandate for their children since around 2004 I believe. I'm not 100% sure that's the correct date. Yes they have measles as do we all. I can not understand why there has been no real unbiased study/studies done on comparing the health of our children for medical conditions, allergies and diseases, vaccinated vs unvaccinated. It's not like we don't have the money to fund this but we obviously don't have the motivation. I always get aggressive responses that lack any kindness or consideration. Ultimately we are all different and we have genetic make up which means some of our children have a higher chance of having problems be it from the adjuvants in the vaccines or some other ingredient. Wakefields studies have been discredited and are no longer considered. But last year in the newspapers there was new research that suggested there is indeed a possible link because of the accumulation of aluminum in the brains of autistic children. This is a factor because these children have 10 x more metal in their brains than is safe for adults. The researchers speculate, some children do not cope with the accumulation from the many vaccines a child has even in these minute doses , as they cross the blood brain barrier and there they stay, this may be due to genetic changes. There is no way of knowing which children will react in this way, but parents do take their chances for the greater good. I do not think it would hurt to have a less defensive adult discussion but that doesn't seem possible these days. I'm still preparing to be flamed for posting this so I have name changed.

Just because it was in the newspaper doesnt mean it was good science

mummabubs · 05/05/2019 23:59

Very true @bruffin. I think sometimes people either forget or don't know how to critique information that the (frequently biased) media offers them.

I posted up thread about my position in the health service and my own understanding of the evidence to date. I have read nothing credible in relation to aluminium in the brain and a link with vaccines and subsequent autism. For what's its worth in response to loveresearching's post- my child also had a reaction very shortly after their 12 month vaccines and was subsequently in hospital for a week. I will still be continuing with their vaccinations and and any future siblings.

UnPocoLoco2 · 06/05/2019 00:21

I think if you didn't vaccinate and your child caught a nasty disease and ended up deaf, blind or dead etc then you'd have a lot of regrets.

bruffin · 06/05/2019 09:16

The amount of aluminium in vaccines is tiny compared to daily exposure, through food and the environment..
The only was for aluminium to do damage is very long term exposure ie in the workplace or with kidney damage.
Their are guidelines for maximum exposure for babies, but that is for long term use of an IV drip but is often misrepresented on antivax websites as normal daily exposure.

lovelychops · 06/05/2019 09:19

I'd rather have an autistic child than a dead one, or be responsible for another child's death. So yeah, vaccinate your child and educate the idioys who tell you otherwise

Cutesbabasmummy · 06/05/2019 10:38

My DH is on the autistic spectrum. He didn't have mmr. His father is on the spectrum. He didn't have mmr. His uncle is on the spectrum. He didn't have mmr. 5 cousins including my son - all had mmr. Eldest cousin is on the spectrum. Mmr does not cause autism. Much more likely there is a genetic link. Stop spreading crap and vaccinate!
