What would you like for Mother’s Day?

I know it’s not in the spirit of Mother’s Day and obviously I want to spend the day with my children but if you could ask for an actual gift what would you ask for? Or what gifts have you had that you loved?

I have two under two and would love something personalised, or maybe something indulgent, doesn’t have to be expensive.
My DH normally panics and will throw money away on gifts if left to his own devices so I would rather ask for something from the boys. We are away with family on the day so breakfast in bed etc are out!

To wake up naturally around mid morning and then a nice breakfast of eggy bread and a walk on the beach

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 16/03/2019 22:18

I would like a lie in, a tidy house, kids entertained and not have to share the day with (lovely as she is) MIL!

Harveyrabbit76 · 16/03/2019 22:22

A massive lie in followed by an uninterrupted bath with jo malone bath oil where i can read for as long as i like. Then a lovely roast dinner and a few glasses of champagne on my own. However with a 2.5 year old and a 4 month old, none of this will happen. Ever.

I would like a clean kitchen, a tidy lounge and a spotless bathroom.

Failing that something handmade and adorably tacky from 1yr old DS, and a cup of coffee in bed from DH would make me very happy.

I'm actually ridiculously excited about mothers day this year, because we're announcing my pregnancy to my mum and dad on the day.

Thesnobbymiddleclassone · 16/03/2019 22:29

I have my birthday next Sunday and mother's day is the one after. I have no idea what I want for either!

MsMustDoBetter · 16/03/2019 22:34

Cards and lunch out.

Thehogfatherstolemycurry · 16/03/2019 22:38

A new dressing gown (mine is threadbare )
A bottle of wine from the husband
A text or card from dd1 who is an adult and likely not to remember

Wallsbangers · 16/03/2019 23:07

To not be woken up between the hours of midnight and 6.30am.

To not have to change any stinky nappies.

Sallycinammonbangsthedruminthe · 18/03/2019 17:24

My eldest is in New York this year but I have my youngest aged 7 here...we do mothers day her, me and my mum! It doesnt matter what we do be it shopping be it lunch be it nothing at all we just do it together! Just us girls!

Happyinheels · 18/03/2019 17:27

I told my 15 yr old dd and 12 yr old ds that I don't want any presents just their presence. No phones. Just us. My dd was quite moved by it!
They have their own lives, always out with friends and bf, connected to her phone by the hip!
She then suggested a picnic and a walk ❤️

BarkandCheese · 18/03/2019 17:28

My car valeted, and I’ve already told DH this so hopefully it’ll happen.

PandaCat · 18/03/2019 17:28

Some fish n chips from the chip shop.

happymummy12345 · 18/03/2019 17:29

Nothing really. My birthday is the day after Mother's Day, on Monday the 1st April, and our wedding anniversary is the following Tuesday the 9th April.
I'll get something small for each, i don't need anything. My husband has my birthday off and most likely will have our wedding anniversary off as well. He will most likely be working Mother's Day so I'll spend the day with ds.

jasmine1971 · 18/03/2019 17:30

I would dearly love a jar of rose petal jam, turkish delight on toast, divine!

beela · 18/03/2019 17:39

I would like a new tacky 'best mum ever' mug, preferably full of tea.

My previous one got dropped and broke a few months ago. I was gutted, and so were my dc! They aren't old enough to go to the shops on their own to buy a replacement, so hopefully DH will follow up on the not very subtle hints

crosser62 · 18/03/2019 17:45

To drive away.

Chocolateheaven123 · 18/03/2019 17:56

Present-wise, a personalised mug filled with photos of my little boy. It was one of my favourite mugs to drink from but it accidentally got smashed a few months ago. I told DP I'd really appreciate a replacement. DS is only just gone 2 so he can't exactly get it for me Grin

I'd also like a glass of wine and a restful sleep but being 7 months pregnant is making both of things impossible at the moment!!

anmh · 18/03/2019 18:07

A new perfume I have been longing for and a lovely, peaceful meal where no one is fighting (I mean the kids Grin)

anmh · 18/03/2019 18:08

Drive away from what?

ScarletBitch · 18/03/2019 18:31

A cleaner and a nice sleep seen I work nights and stay up on weekends with my youngest! The joys of being a single mum lol

purplereindeer · 18/03/2019 19:00

The weather to be nice enough for a long walk with the DC.

All of my coffees made for me all day.

Something nice for breakfast.

Control of the TV remote!

WholeLottaLottie · 18/03/2019 19:48

I would love a day where I do nothing laze untill join, then visit my mum my gran and mil, then trek with my dogs on my own in the forest come home have a lovely soak in the bath and free reign over the remote.

Reality ds has odd and Adhd and is challenging dog walk will be with him and dh with ds saying every 5 mins can I go home now.. I need a wee... I hate walking. I will visit mum gran and mil though, my bath will be a dive in the shower and the remote well if I can find it will probably need new batteries and dh will have it! I also have to remind them it's mothers day

wasgoingmadinthecountry · 18/03/2019 22:13

A couple of years ago we went to the beach to throw a rugby ball around -just me and my 4 children. All too rare now as they are grown up and live all over the place.

During her first year at university dd1 turned up unannounced. Loved that.

Sophisticatedsarcasm · 18/03/2019 22:28

I’d like to sleep the whole weekend with no interruptions, DS is 11 and I’m still catching up 😖 we don’t really do mother’s day in our house, same old Sunday, cooking, cleaning preparing for school 😊

Thinkofsomethingoriginal · 18/03/2019 22:33

Last year my then two-year old had chicken pox and was awake in discomfort the whole night leading into Mother’s Day. I had no sleep at all. The best thing that happened to me was being left to nap for a couple of hours in the afternoon. The breakfast they brought me in bed was lovely but I was just too tired to eat it.
For me, the pleasure in receiving presents is the joy on their little faces that they get from bringing me simple gifts.
