21 months, hard work when they were little, but my two are really close brothers, complete opposites personality wise but get on so well. They are 17 & 15.

mine were 16 months apart, and played constantly and very happily together, until DD turned 12 last year!

I hightly recomend having them close together

I agree with a PP that it’s got more to do with their personalities than their age.

I have a 3year difference, and while they sometime enjoy each other’s company, they have very different styles of play and can rarely settle to something together.

This sounds like a theoretical concern for you presently OP.
I dont think it’s something that should influence big life altering decisions! It’s simply not that important!

17 months between them (they are 2 & 3), and they either play wonderfully together or they actively try to murder each other. There is not happy medium Blush

6 years inbetween first 3, then re-married, nine years, my oldest DD was 21 when my youngest was born, she had a baby a year later, all played together, looked after each other, lived together as adults. My youngest had 2 16 months apart. I looked after DGD took her to see Mum and new baby, she hit her Mum and didnt want to know. They fight like cat and dog, as they get older, awful in the car when you need to consentrate, which is ridiculous because I have had cats and dogs together they dont fight!

I have DSS, currently almost 19, DSD almost 16, DS 4 and DS2 on the way in summer.

DS has a 15 yr gap with his big brother and 12 with his big sister. He ADORES them and they dote on him, we dont all live together so cant comment on that.

There will be 4 yrs 4 months between DS and his younger brother, and they will live together so i am interested to know how this dynamic will pan out.

DSS now has his own DS, who is almost 1, so it changes things a bit, tho our DS loves it when DSS visits without the baby as he can climb all over him LOL

DSS and DSD used to fight like cat and dog but have always been close with a 3 year gap, apart from one 2 year period where DSS thought he was a big gangster and tried to tell DSD what to do etc. But i think thats personality rather than age!

There is a 1 year gap between dds 1 and 2 and then a 3 year gap between dd2 and ds

They are now 12, 11 and 8.

They have very different personalities and ds has additional needs, which can sometimes contribute to conflict, but on the whole they are kind to each other and play/do stuff together as long as we ensure they all get their own space too

3.5 & 4 years between mine. They all play together. Its great. Obviously the relationship between eldest and youngest is different as DTs are 7 and DC1 is 14. But he thinks they are adorable and they adore him. DC2 in the middle plays with both. There's fractious moments between all the various dynamics but definitely wouldn't change it.

But there are absolutely no guarantees, I have friends with 3-4 year gap whose children play together all the time and those with close gaps who fight like cat and dog and vice versa.

Just under 3 years between my two. They play together all the time! Also fight all the time but the playing definitely out weights the fighting! They are 4 and 1.
