Fuzzis issues - help!

Feels very odd asking for help

I got fuzzis a month or so ago - to start with they were fine, but now he is soaking after the first wee (on the outside).

I've tried stuffing more/stuffing less but whatever I do he just seems to leak straight out.

What am I doing wrong? It seems like he's having one big wee and its just pouring out before soaking in or something . Never been a big pocket person, so its all new territory for me.

What inserts are you useing flame?

Also the fleece may need stripping, have heard that you can get build up and then the wee just runs off it:

Q: What does ?stripping? the diapers mean and should I be doing it?
A: We have (as have others) had many theories on what is called "stripping? diapers. We simply call it plain ole upkeep and something that should be done every now and then as a preventative measure in taking care of your diapers and prolonging their life. Although our diapers typically don?t have these problems, on occasion we do receive questions involving persistent stink. repelling fleece (or residue buildup on the fleece), fleece that stays wet or leaking diapers.

  1. Get a good detergent like Allen's Naturally.
  2. Run all of your diapers through a plain water hot wash.
  3. Run all of your diapers through a hot wash with the full recommended amount of detergent.
  4. If the problem is bad, repeat step three.
  5. Run a cold rinse. If you have hard water you may want to add a water softener such as Baking Soda or Calgon Water Softener to soften your water and help release any left over detergent.
  6. If you still see bubbles in your rinse run another cold rinse.
  7. You can either sun your diapers or tumble on low. A good way to tell if your repelling problem is fixed is to take a nasal aspirator and put an insert into the pocket. Fill the nasal aspirator with water and put it close to the fleece and "pee" on the diaper with the aspirator. If the water goes through, your repelling problem should be fixed.

Ooh I like the repelling test

I've been trying out various inserts - mainly microfibre because they fit better.

I'll try the test and go from there

snugglebumnappies · 15/06/2007 16:35

shouldn't be the insert if it's micro fibre, sometimes a quick, heavy toddler wee doesn't have time to soak into hemp and runs off cauing a problem.

Enjoy your repelling experimenting

my fuzzis stock arrived today, bloody quick service did you order orange ones? I need some sunglasses for them

Lol - no orange ones here, but the hot pink are a sunglasses job too!

We should have compared notes so we both have different stock and can point people wanting the other colours to the other store . Did you get charged customs or not?

OP posts:
snugglebumnappies · 15/06/2007 16:41

ohhh I have been so lucky this week no customs on the three parcels i have recieved

wll email you and let you know the colour i got. I also bought some trickle free trainers, size0/2 as they market them as swim nappies, OMG the are so bright turquoise, orange, hot pink and lime when i opened the box

bagpuss · 15/06/2007 16:45

Flame, I nearly didn't recognise you! Have you been using nappy cream with them? If so it may have coated the fleece and that can cause the repelling. The only other thing I can think of is that your ds may have changed shape a bit - you could try experimenting with the settings. Oh, also, if you use poppered vests then they are rubbish with Fuzzis. We were using them with extenders but the pressure still caused ours to leak and so I ditched them in favour of normal vests.

Now, whilst I've got you both here , could either of you get hold of a large Fuzzi for me in All Aboard print? Flame, I noticed that you can order certain ones in on your site? Pretty please

I've only got mediums atm - will be doing another order in a couple of weeks. They still have lg train ones available to order now, but its hit and miss whether they will then.

Did you get any large Snuggle?

No barrier creams here or vests - his thighs have got bigger so I have gone to the next leg setting, it might be that its still that bit too wide and i need to squeeze him into the smaller setting still?

snugglebumnappies · 15/06/2007 16:51

yup have one on the site now

FilthyFlameVixen · 15/06/2007 16:51

just thought you were in flirty mood flame

bagpuss · 15/06/2007 16:57

Seriously? Where? (Have totally train mad ds2 btw)

Flame, try stretching the nappy to the previous setting (they are quite stretchy). I do this with some of mine as ds2 is between settings. They don't pop open like you think they will. Also some of mine seem tighter than others when done up the same way so I have remember which colours are more generous than others iyswim.

Flamesparrow · 15/06/2007 17:00

FilthyMindedVixen said that people didn't have names matching hers (there is a Flame17 on the for sale boards ) and that there weren't any other filthy vixens floating about MN.... would have been wrong not to change!

Will try the stretching - it was holding loads before.

I had the same issue with his swaddlebees ocv pocket (the weird one that needs a wrap) and I have gone up a popper on that too...

snugglebumnappies · 15/06/2007 17:07

bagpuss website link is here the print is called' all aboard"

Flamesparrow · 15/06/2007 17:12

What's the sizing like on the swim ones (needing a decent swim nappy for DS)?

snugglebumnappies · 15/06/2007 17:20

I've only got the little ones that will be way too small for him but they are exactly the same as the trickle free training pants so you could get some of those. Have to say I always double nappy with both my LOs, a reusable swim nappy and then a neoprene swim nappy on the top, not had any leaks yet this way (in fact it's the way we have to do it for their swim lessons)

bagpuss · 15/06/2007 17:22

Have ordered!, SBN, I think I love you (well, ds2 will anyway). Please don't let it arrive on a weekend (DH will murder me if he finds out ).

snugglebumnappies · 15/06/2007 17:24

if i post it out tomorrow it will get to you at the start of next week so you can hide it (well as much as you can hide a nappy that you are going to use)

Flamesparrow · 15/06/2007 17:25

I've never thought of doubling

bagpuss · 15/06/2007 17:31

Thank you I have no trouble hiding them - dh never does any nappy changing , it is just the postie he is suspicious of .

nappyzone · 16/06/2007 17:37

sbum - your stripping advice - were does white vinegar come into it as everyone rants about it - my older ones stink at the moment and was going to strip in the way you have detailed but then i have heard mention of white vinegar so was going to try but wont if not necessary. Oooo even the so called experts need help you know!

Flamesparrow · 16/06/2007 17:49

It was the leg settings - had one on for ages this morning on the tighter setting with no leaks (he did get a wet outer in the end, but that was due to sitting in a puddle )

nappyzone · 16/06/2007 17:50

hello flame - what do you do about smell....

Flamesparrow · 16/06/2007 17:56

Sorry - yes, I do a cold rinse before washing, and another rinse after washing with white vinegar and it seems to get rid of all buildup.
