Changing hairstyle at nursery

Hi
I am new here. Something has really bugged me and I’m trying to figure out why this gets to me as much as it does and I guess I might be over reacting too.
I get my 4 yr old daughter ready in the mornings although she is pretty independent with dressing. I do her hair and often it’s just a pony tail or hair clips to keep it out of the paint etc.
Most days now she’s coming home from nursery with elaborate plaits, buns etc like someone is practicing for a career change in wedding hair!
You would think that I would welcome these freebie up-do’s, but I don’t, I really hate it.
I hate it most because my daughter will not mention which of the staff are doing it and this unnerves me.
Does anyone else have this experience and if so, how have you handled it?

Yes, seriously. I'm not sure you can speak for 'all' nurseries.
I think there is a lot that can be done within Smart Start type programme's during pre-school year in preparing children for the transition between nursery and reception class.

Looking at some of the findings and speaking with the school on how prepared they find the children coming in, I don't think it hurts to be involved in how the nursery are supporting this transition.

As I have said in previous posts, I don't begrudge the staff or my child this 1:1 and making suggestions that I should 'let her enjoy the 1:1 time' when I am clearly not saying this, makes me feel your involvement in this thread is just to argue (which I have no interest in).

Ex nursery nurse here. The younger nursery nurses often used to 'do' the girls hair at their request. They would be playing hairdressers/princesses etc.or another girl would have plaits etc and they want the same. The younger ladies really seem to enjoy it as do the children. It would often be at chillout time as a quiet activity. Particularly this time of year when many of the preschoolers have left and it's quieter in nursery.

Your daughter might be clamming up as she feels that you disapprove.
I'm sure if you went into nursery saying 'ohhh who did DDs hair- it was gorgeous?' You'd find out who did it.

Total non-issue. A similar thing happens at my son's nursery. They all love playing hairdressers.
In fact, one of the nursery nurses used to be a hairdresser and actually provides a hair cutting service every 6 weeks.

In reception there's a good ratio of staff to children. She'll be fine. I speak as an old hand at this, I have 4 DC, my youngest is 7.
