Which inserts fit a Bumgenius?

Hiya all,

I've been convinced (should stay off this forum really ) that I need to have at least one Bumgenius in my nappy collection.

I know it comes with a microfiber insert, but I'm a great fan of bamboo or hemp so am wondering if any other inserts fit?

I have loads of Wonderfulls hemp inserts a couple of P'tit Dessaus bamboo inserts, will either of these fit? (Please, please tell me they will as I can't afford to buy even more expensive inserts )

Can someone let me know if they know somewhere in the US where they sell bumgenius and ship over here? The sites I've found don't do international shipping.

Thanx

Just be careful about import duty kicks in after you have spent a measly £18 and is 3.5%

Yep once the duty kicks in its not worth buying from abroad as the duty is a killer. Will have a hunt for a store that sells them and will ship to Uk. Wildflower diapers does but they have recently switched to flat rate shipping which is 20 or 25 dollars so is on the high side. Just had a load of Stacinator wool covers sent to me (i sell nappies) and the shipping for them was less than $20 dollars, its a matter of tracking one down someone who does shipping by weight.

Nicki's Diapers Ask for a quote for shipping as they invoice you separately for the shipping. I have ordered from them before they were quick as far as I remember.

thank you snugglebumnappies and lailasmum, I will have a look tonight.

Ordered maternity clothes from the states so remember that sometimes it got less cheap than I expected LOL

I reckon that shipping should be about $7-$8 but depends whether they are honest about the actual cost.

nappyzone · 07/06/2007 20:56

archies mum - i have had a few mails back from the usa have you? anyway by the time tax etc is added on we may as well just buy froma retailer in the uk, theres some on ebay and a couple on nappylady new for £14. I just going to get one from there i think but cannot decide on the colour to get for a boy!! Oh im so indecissive when it comes to nappies!! At least i wont have to jump the postie for 3 weeks waiting for it from US and beleive me i have been hounding our postie of late - henow runs up our path and away again! lol

archiesmummy · 08/06/2007 09:50

For anyone who's interested Nicki's Diapers
charge this; USPS First Class International, shipping time varies, no insurance $5.40

Very cheap, but uninsured of course..

oooo i looked and my plastic is twitching - thinking about 3 as then cheaper lol!!! Uninsured to me is a cert they will get lost on route!

archiesmummy · 08/06/2007 10:16

I know, uninsured is always a bit scary, but insured is 20-25 depending on method, so not worth it

I usually don't get insurance for single nappies and have never lost anything. Just depends really. I know a lot of shops are out of stock anyway so depends how desperate you are to get one.

If its going parcel post you can often use the customs number to track as they get handed over to Parcel force in the UK. I have done that before as one big parcel I was sent got accidentally sent without tracking once. Shame they wont quote you for airmail letter post that's quick and pretty reliable.
If you get three nappies you may get stung for customs duty.

archiesmummy · 08/06/2007 11:31

lailasmum you're a great source of information in this area.
TBH I would only buy 1, it's only to try. I can't really afford to start buying lots of new nappies now (but I would love to LOL).

I have noticed they are sold out all over the place, and if the postmen go on strike as well then I might not get my nappy for ages..

lailasmum · 08/06/2007 12:05

Possibly best to do it sooner rather than later if Nicki's diapers have them, has the postal strike been confirmed yet?. My sister used to work in customs so she was a mine of info about things I didn't understand.

nappyzone · 08/06/2007 12:26

to much of wimp to get from usa as always getting into customs battles so i have ordered a grasshopper new off nappylady £14 inc p and p, if posties are gong on strike i not waiting till he out of nappies for it to arrive lol!! - i so excited!!! yey fluff on its way!

archiesmummy · 08/06/2007 12:29

So unfair, I really need to sell something before I buy again...

Well as someone else said customs wise its fine as long as you stay under £18.
