Which inserts fit a Bumgenius?

Hiya all,

I've been convinced (should stay off this forum really ) that I need to have at least one Bumgenius in my nappy collection.

I know it comes with a microfiber insert, but I'm a great fan of bamboo or hemp so am wondering if any other inserts fit?

I have loads of Wonderfulls hemp inserts a couple of P'tit Dessaus bamboo inserts, will either of these fit? (Please, please tell me they will as I can't afford to buy even more expensive inserts )

oo i dont know ive never played with a bumgenius - interested to hear about it though as ive thought about stocking them but there quite expensive and they dont do prints either yet do they?

lailasmum · 05/06/2007 20:47

You can use any rectangular ones really, Though you would have to maybe get more than one size if you are not using one size inserts.
I don't think a wonderfulls would fit but will have a play and post tomorrow. At the price of the bgs though would you want to buy more inserts? I was never personally been a fan as I don't like aplix fastening but I know some people rave about them. Used to sell them but don't any longer as just didn't like them that much and don't like selling things I wasn't 100% liking.

Thank you for the replies, looking forward to hear if the Wonderfulls will fit or not lailasmum.

Must admit I do think they are a bit pricey and not too keen on buying additional inserts, no.
But I would like to try aplix, as I find the poppers tend to do up a bit funny (maybe just a growing fase?).

Today DS has started taking clothes and nappies off as soon as I turn away and he can't undo the poppers yet, so might be worth sticking with my poppered pockets??

I wouldn't mind if we didn't have carpets throughout (stupid rented flat!!!}

yep poppered pockets sound like a good idea. Have you tried Fuzzi Bunz?

archiesmummy · 06/06/2007 09:44

I wish, I just adore their beautiful LE prints. lailasmum, but we can't get on with FBs (too high, leaves a massive gap and of course - leaks) at all and I have now sold all the ones we had.

We do use Wonderoos and Mommy's Touch though, which are one size, so that's why I thought it might be fun to try BumGenius..

Thank you for tip though

Whats a bumgenious??

dissle · 06/06/2007 09:47

bamboo hemp what?!!!
is this code for a spliff

nappyzone · 06/06/2007 10:10

pea pods are poppered poackets as are wonderoos . And there far cheaper than BG.

archiesmummy · 06/06/2007 10:15

Pea pods have hemp inserts don't they nappyzone? But they are not one size though are they?

OP posts:
nappyzone · 06/06/2007 10:52

if you look on my website the details are there - the inserts are a cotton hemp mix kind of like a prefold you pop in the pocket. Small and medium should take through to potty training.

nappyzone · 06/06/2007 10:53

they look fab though! My boy is in his now and has been for 2 hrs now with no leaks but a poo is iminent - hopefully he will hold off!

archiesmummy · 06/06/2007 11:01

I did have a look at your website earlier actually, floowing links on Pea Pods homepage.
Anyway, do you sell the bamboo pea pods as well?
Can you let me know which colours you have in stock in Medium please.
Email me on [email protected]

Thanx

indeed i do - e mailing you now - basically all the colours,...

lailasmum · 06/06/2007 12:33

have you tried Swaddlebees those are small and more bikini cut. Having had a really tall child I am not so up on whats best for shorter children.

archiesmummy · 06/06/2007 14:19

Shorter children lailasmum? Who said anything about short children?
My DS is tall aswell, but he is tall and "chunky" a little bundle of energy LOL, anyway I get distracted here...

I haven't tried Swaddlesbees because I hear they are more difficult to stuff than FBs and I thought they were near to impossible to get the inserts into.

I like the Wonderoos because they are so wide.
I've ordered a Pea Pod Bamboo from Nappyzone now so will see how we get on with it. If we don't like it I might just stick with the Wonderoos (until something else comes along of course .

Swaddlebees sound like they'd be the same kind of fit as a fuzzi on your boy archies. I'm just about to sell mine on as they just don't fit him at all. Might try a wonderoo now as there are some on nappy lady! There are some bumgenius on nappy lady too if you're interested.

nappyzone · 06/06/2007 18:57

dont rid the swadders in haste as i hated mine as leaked all over but since he has grown in only the last few weeks i am having great success with them. Wonderoos are excellent value for birth to potty though and there defo one of my best selling nappies and it must be for a reason!

Booboobedoo · 06/06/2007 18:59

Has anyone else noticed how rude this thread title sounds?

lailasmum · 06/06/2007 19:09

Thought you said the fuzzi were to high for him-obviously missunderstood. My daughter is really tall and found the fuzzis were the only one with high enough rize without being really wide.
Ok Wonderfulls inserts do not fit Bumgenious well. The insert is a bit the wrong shape so it bunches up. They are better if you pull towards the back a bit but then you loose the padding at the front.

archiesmummy · 06/06/2007 21:12

I understand now lailasmum. I was wondering where you got the short bit from.

It is strange actually that they don't fit, since DS is tall also. I'm a bit annoyed about it, because "everyone" else raves about them.

OP posts:
lailasmum · 06/06/2007 21:18

A friend told me if you want just the one Bumgenius its cheaper to buy them from the US even with the airmail. They are about $17.95 so about £9 each then expect a couple of quid postage. So probably work out at about £11 rather than £15.

archiesmummy · 06/06/2007 21:24

Cool, I'll look into that Lailasmum, thanx for the tip!

OP posts:
nappyzone · 06/06/2007 21:55

oooo do we have a US site? - i was going to wholesale them but there £10 a shot to buy in and i only wanted to wholesale to try myself - why buy one when you can buy 30 lol!!!! I intrigued now...
