Naked parents....

This is gonna sound really odd so please bear with me.

Have a DS who is 5 months old and this morning I walked in to his nursery naked (I sleep naked) and picked him up to bring him through to our bedroom. This Q suddenly struck me!

When do you feel it is inappropriate to wander around naked in front of you children?? My DH and I tend to walk round naked (upstairs between bathroom and bedroom - not generally round the house ).

At what age would you consider 'covering up'?? Or those of you that have older children what was your experience of it.

Sorry if it sounds weird but was just pondering....

Never. There is nothing wrong with the human body.

I wear PJ's to bed. Dh sleeps naked. But if one of the children are ill & they are sleeping with us dh will wear boxers.

The kids watch us shower, get changed etc.. sometimes dh feels uncomfortable but that's because dd is 5 & at an age where she watches him very contently..

Ds is 2 & asked me last week when I got out the shower "Where your willy mammy?" I told him girls didn't have willies, just he & daddy had a willy... he said "You got a doddy mammy" [doddy = doggy] So one can hazard a guess as to how long it's been since I had my bikini line waxed

Later on telling my sisters about my doggy, they screamed with laughter until they remembered that when we were younger I used to watch them bathe [they are 10yrs older than me, twins] Apparently I went running downstairs sobbing "Mammy mammy, XXX & XXXXXX have beards on their bums!!!!"

We are both quite happy for the children to see us naked (10 and 7) but I do worry about the neighbours getting a shock

Ds (4) asked 'what those are' (pointing out my norks)...can't remember what I replied, but he asked if he would get ;them. Said no, girls get them, boys (hopefully) don't.....cue 5 min screaming fit 'but i WANT them'.....

We do not cover up but dd's are only 2.8 and 10 mths. As a consequence DD1 is clear on male/female anatomy.
We were at a, day after the wedding, party a few weeks ago when the groom's parents arrived (I have known the groom since we were kids and his parents are good friends with my folks). DD1 was the only child at the party and demanded 'Who are you?' - as the parents walked in. We told her that this was 'X's daddy' - she proudly turned round and announced to the room - 'This is X's daddy and he has a winkie!' Cue - whole party coming to a standstill as everyone looked to me for confirmation as to what she had said.

I always walk around naked and cannot imagine not doing as they get older. My parents alawys did and do not see as being odd. i remember sitting on the floor chatting to me Mum when she was in the bath when i was a teenager. In fact I ahve been known to recently! Is my family odd??

i think its a good thing to do as it shows them not to be ashamed of their bodies etc, as long as they dont turn out to be flashers its good i misread the post at first, had to read it a few times as i thought "i walked into his nursery naked" meant nursery as in school.ahaha

I wander about naked from our bedroom to the bathroom and back, sometimes via their rooms to tell them to get up for school.
They are 8 (boy) and 6 (girl) and they don't bat an eyelid; although they do tell me I have a huge, wobbly bum.
Their Dad's more circumspect, but that's just him.

I just read this thread again - i didnt see anyone setting age limits when they would not be seen naked.

Instead i read nearly every poster as being really comfortable about bodies and nakedness and that they would take appropriate cues from their children if and when it was apparent that they (the children) were embarrased.

I was brought up in a naked house - we'd even pop for a poo when another was in the bath etc. I wouldn't go that far these days but will never cover up - nor worry about it!

Squidette - coincidence

Was standing in bathroom this morning with no clothes on, brushing my teeth with electric toothbrush.

DD9 comes in and says

"Mum do you know your bottoms vibrating?

Our day began with all three of us in bed playing at patting out tunes on each others' bottoms.

Dd likes me telling her she has a pattable bottom. She doesn't extend the patting privileges to anyone other than me and dh. She tries to pat my boobs but I discourage that, just because she's not always gentle enough.

She's still comfortable with our nakedness at 8 and loves being naked herself, but only 'in the family'. That's a fairly recent development, I'd say in the last 18 months - before that she would blithely strip off in front of anyone.

My Mum was always very modest and covered up with us - but since having dd I have happily jumped in the bath with her when Mum was around, and Mum has been fine with that.
