and you wouldn't believe how many laughs I have got from other people by saying "bob l'eponge" in a "French" accent

DANCESwithnewlytannedlegs · 25/05/2007 16:09

DANCESwithnewlytannedlegs · 25/05/2007 16:12

SOmeone explain this spongebob obsession, dc a bit young for it so I've only ever seen a couple of mins of it and it wasn't anything special...

unknownrebelbang · 25/05/2007 16:12

You mean I was second choice Obmolov???

Even if it was behind Twiglett???

I'm hurt.

Boco · 25/05/2007 16:21

I don't really have a clear sense of my parenting style.

I think i'm fairly laid back, but firm when needed - rarely shout, but will for shock value when really needed - prefer distraction.

I talk to my children as if they're actual people - don't like it when parents either baby talk or always sound cross or shouty. I like the same from them - they're pretty polite and thoughtful - and whining is the thing to get to me most.

Have a routine, but it's flexible and took a while to develop.

I like the idea of doing all sorts of lovely making and creating, but in reality spend too much time on mn or reading the paper or just drinking tea and they get on and make stuff with general nods of approval from me.

Oblomov · 25/05/2007 16:22

It wasn't like that.
No need for anyone to be hurt. There was no two-timing or second choice.

tortoiseSHELL · 25/05/2007 17:07

I think mine are probably enid or marina.

colditz · 25/05/2007 17:19

I like cod's Approach To Boys

(a combination of sweets and shouting, it seems)

unknownrebelbang · 25/05/2007 17:27

Oh dear Boco, I often sound cross even when I'm not....

lol Obmolov. I remember reading a couple of your posts in the past, and have felt similar to you, so maybe we should be partners, lol.

(Alongside a100times, lol.)

BeatrootandBenedick · 25/05/2007 17:31

blimey - don't think I have one

agree with all sorts on different things - let me ponder

VeniVidiVickiQV · 25/05/2007 18:14

at folk thinking I have a "serious" outlook in my parenting.

Dogsby · 25/05/2007 18:14

ssweets nad hsouting?
god no i rarely shout
sweets yes when potty training.

OP posts:
fillyjonk · 25/05/2007 18:16

hmm

don't think i have, or want a partner, really

i come on MN to have people tell me I'm wrong, really...

I am not quite a lentil weaver on several counts...

no one EVER always agrees with me

lots of MNetters inspire me though which is IMO MUCH more important.

I am sure they know who they are

Otter · 25/05/2007 18:18

FAB colditz!!!!! do you think Cod will be pleased with that parenting prasee?

Dogsby · 25/05/2007 18:19

no i am farking not

OP posts:
VeniVidiVickiQV · 25/05/2007 18:21

Dogger....do you have a potty training bootcamp running atm?

harpsichordcarrier · 25/05/2007 18:22

I think that the type of parent you are is influenced by the type of child you have.
cod's style of parenting is clearly right for three lively boys
whereas enid and I have more gentle girls.
and hunker and QV and I have children who Will Not Sleep
and franny and I have children who will not stop talking except when bf

Dogsby · 25/05/2007 18:23

yes thats why i matched you and enid
youa re both erally considerate parents imo and totally agree abotu gender issues.
think parenting of girls ( fromwhat i have seen) involve sa lot more intropective stuff =- liek dealign wiht broken freindships etc) and for boys its liek havign three labradrors around

OP posts:
fillyjonk · 25/05/2007 18:24

yes harpsi is right

but it is an undernoted fact

FrannyandZooey · 25/05/2007 18:25

Ah mine didn't sleep either

or stop talking

do I get a prize?

niceglasses · 25/05/2007 18:26

I don't think I have a 'style'. I think if anything, I'm lazy. Which has more to do with the type of person I am I think.

fillyjonk · 25/05/2007 18:28

i have a Not Gentle girl

who Will Not Sleep

And a more gentle boy

who also Will Not Sleep

and neither of them ever stop talking

and I do like my chocolate
