I am going mental.

He never shuts up.

It's "Mum"

he waits for me to say "yes"

Then some inane comment or question he already knows the sodding answer to.

Can I put duct tape on him tomorrow?

I have told him to be quiet ,but it invariably only lasts a few minutes.

When will it end?

how old is he? i've found it takes about 12 years. then they lock themselves in their room

Dogsby · 24/05/2007 22:22

tell him he has three questions at a time

Spider · 24/05/2007 22:22

I know it drives you crazy. How about foam ear plugs then just keep saying, 'Hmm. Really? Uh huh' etc randomly. I'm serious.

ha no it doesn't! my 5 year old is hard work

kid · 24/05/2007 22:43

I can stop my 5 year old from talking by feeding him! He loves all food so anything will work.
They do ask the most strangest questions at times. DS once asked me 'Do birds wee?' I have no idea where that came from. He also asked today if God has bigger feet than me.

southeastastra · 24/05/2007 22:47

feeding to stop talking works too

christywhisty · 24/05/2007 22:50

My 2 are 9 & 11 and never stop talking and asking questions.
At least we have grown out of
"what would you do if you were surrounded by 100's of dinosaurs?"

Ellbell · 24/05/2007 22:58

My dd1 couldn't sleep tonight so she came downstairs and we watched the last 10 mins of 'The man who went up a hill and came down a mountain' (or whatever it's called). No idea what happened, as all I got was 'Why are those people going up that hill?', 'Are they being cruel to those horses?', 'Why does that lady talk funny?' [huge apologies to all Welsh people], 'Is that man English?', 'Is that man English', 'Is she Welsh?', 'Why is that man snoring?', 'Why is he drinking beer? Won't he get drunk?', 'Why is the rugby man helping?', 'Why doesn't that man want to climb the mountain', 'Has that man got stiff?' 'Why is he whispering?' 'Ooh, is he dead?' 'Why are they putting him in a coffin? Why not just put him in the earth?', 'Why haven't they got electric lights?' 'Is it the olden days?', 'Is it nowadays yet?' and then the cracker 'What was that all about?'.

What indeed? She is asleep now. My head is still spinning with it all.

Ellbell · 24/05/2007 23:00

Oh, and all that just goes to prove that turnign the TV on doesn't necessarily help!

francagoestohollywood · 24/05/2007 23:15

ds today drove the guy who was rebuilding the fence wall absolutely crazy. He went on asking questions for nearly 2 hours. He is extremely verbose.
and LOL at ellbell's dd

Ellbell · 24/05/2007 23:21

brimfull · 24/05/2007 23:29

Ellbell · 24/05/2007 23:36

That reminds me of dd's 'If I eat lots of carrots I'll be able to see in the dark, so I'm going to eat lots of carrots and then, when I wake up in the night, I'll be able to see if it's light yet and I'll know if it's time to get up'.

Do what?

brimfull · 24/05/2007 23:39
