Recommend a stylish high chair?

I like the look of the Tripp Trapp but it's far too expensive and I'm worried by the YouTube video of it tipping over. Also like the look of the Budtz Bendix chair and the iCandy Michair, but again too expensive. The Plan Toys high chair is better priced but doesn't have an optional tray.

Can anyone recommend a high chair that's aesthetically pleasing and doesn't cost the earth? The most I can spend is about £150 but all I can find for that budget is hideous brightly coloured plastic chairs.

We have the bloom. We picked it up on eBay for about £65. DS used it from 3 months onwards & DD was in it from birth. It's easy to clean, easy to get them in & out & looks fine. Most importantly for me it doesn't have sticky out legs that I'll trip over. It's got wheels on one side so easy to move around between kitchen & dining room too.

I've tried the ikea one in several places & personally I don't like them, they don't feel very secure to me. I haven't tried a Tripp trap but friends that have them swear by them.

Trust me, the Ikea ones are very secure! I was once giving my twins breakfast, when one of them had recently started climbing a little bit. I put them in the chairs and went back into the kitchen to get something, then heard the box of bricks on the other side of the room being emptied.

Turned round and he’d managed to climb out of the chair, and walk across the room. How he got down out of it without tipping it over I’ll never know

For this reason I wish I had ones with five point harnesses, but if I really tighten the straps it’s much harder for him to get out.

Ikea Ikea Ikea. We had three different ones, all of which were more expensive and I don't know why we bothered. They're amazing, great for space and easy to clean (believe me, the ones with padded seats are evil when you have a weaning baby).

Tammy he hasn’t climbed right out, but I did look up from the washing up to see him standing up in it waving at the ceiling the other day Shock - OP whatever you end up going for, do the clips up even if you think you’re going to get them out in a minute!!

Whoops! You have to really tighten the straps so they can’t wriggle their legs out

ThePug · 24/06/2018 13:51

Beauty of the BabyBjorn one is there are no straps, the table keeps them in and there's no way they can climb out. My 2.5 year old DS still uses his no problem.

Stokke Steps! Love it, very stylish, very well designed my DS has bern using it daily for 3,5 years and will still use for a good while. Just bought another one for baby DD, money well spent i think.

Also regarding Ikea chair, we have one too for the garden/guests and of course its widely used in restaurants. Just wanted to say please make sure your child cannot push himself/herself against something (for example the dining table legs) as the chair can easily fall backwards. I found it to be not exactly reliable for slightly older babies/children who are strong and like kicking away with their feet.
