Recommend a stylish high chair?

I like the look of the Tripp Trapp but it's far too expensive and I'm worried by the YouTube video of it tipping over. Also like the look of the Budtz Bendix chair and the iCandy Michair, but again too expensive. The Plan Toys high chair is better priced but doesn't have an optional tray.

Can anyone recommend a high chair that's aesthetically pleasing and doesn't cost the earth? The most I can spend is about £150 but all I can find for that budget is hideous brightly coloured plastic chairs.

Ikea then Tripp trap for toddler (eBay).

TheSheepofWallSt · 22/06/2018 18:37

Baby Bjorne is my shout. Folds ting, no fabric, no straps, and looks great.

redexpat · 22/06/2018 18:41

Stokke Trip trap. We have 2, both bought 2nd hand. Have never tipped over. If you think the back is low then move the seat down a level. I know a 13 yrold who still sits on her trip trap.

We have Tripp trapps - they have been brilliant. Dts are 7 and still use them every day and it's my chair of choice when I work from home. They have never tipped over and I've never heard of that - we have little plastic glider things that stuck out the back so they can't tip - came with them when we bought them.

DragonScales · 22/06/2018 18:44

We have 2 tripp trap chairs. They are expensive, but my 8 year old still uses her - so it's been used at least twice a day (breakfast and dinner) for 7 and a half years and is still going strong. Neither her nor my 4 year old have ever come close to tipping theirs

TammySwansonTwo · 22/06/2018 18:51

The Ikea ones look fine - I have twins so I have two. They’re 21 months and still use them. Now looking for secondhand Tripp traps

The Cosatto 3Sixti2 has great reviews but it’s so bloody garish. The bloom ones are very smart but very expensive

ToftheB · 22/06/2018 18:59

I’ve got a (second hand) oxo tot one. It’s great, sturdy and smart and easy to get him in to and out of. It doesn’t fold away - but we’re shorter on storage space than floor space, so that works well.

KTCluck · 22/06/2018 19:22

We have a Hauck alpha high chair. It’s similar to the Tripp trapp, easy to clean and reasonably priced - £40ish in Asda, and Aldi when they do their baby event. Only criticisms are it’s a little bit bulky to move around, and while the shoulder straps are easy to bing in the washing machine the buckle bit is a pain in the arse to detach so gets a bit manky. If I had to replace it I’d probably get the ikea one

We have an Oxo Tot. Bit of a pain to clean. We also have a Tripp Trapp. I prefer that.
Ikea do a slightly more expensive high chair that is easier on the eye. I quite like that one.

I love my baby Bjorn. It folds, fits in car boot or under stairs, tray is quick and easy to remove and hasn't stained or scratched after 3 years, no straps and can be hosed Down, looks good and is comfy.

XXXTentacion · 22/06/2018 19:37

Biscuit ridiculous

opinionatedfreak · 22/06/2018 19:41

I know loads of families still using Tripp Trapps (minus baby kit now)!

The oldest kids in our group are heading off to secondary after the summer. Several families have two or three round their dining table.

Can't think of any tipping over disasters and the extenders only came in for the second wave of babies...

On this basis I think they are pretty good value for money!

Verbena87 · 22/06/2018 19:43

I could have written your question before we started weaning.

Someone gave us the ikea one as a stop-gap while we looked for one and it’s so easy to clean, easy to take legs off and chuck in car if we’re visiting friends or going to self-catering holidays (or chuck under stairs and hide if we want to feel like grown-ups after bedtime), light enough to carry one-handed from dining room to kitchen so I can contain my now very mobile 9 mo while I wash dishes etc etc.

And we’ve never replaced it. And honestly, now I’ve got an eating, crawling, cruising, giggling, active baby keeping me busy I couldn’t give a fuck how it looks (beautiful flooring also covered in hideous bright-coloured foam tile thingies). I promise it won’t bother you like you think it will!

TheSheepofWallSt · 22/06/2018 19:45

@XXXTentacion

What’s ridiculous is using the name of a known woman beater, who threatened to kill his girlfriend and their unborn child, on a whim. Then beat the woman senseless and imprisoned her in an apartment, denying her medical help.

That needs a Biscuit

eurochick · 22/06/2018 19:46

Another vote for the baby Bjorn. There are no straps and no corners so it's super easy to clean.

XXXTentacion · 22/06/2018 19:48

@thesheepofwallst
I genuinely don’t care.

TheSheepofWallSt · 22/06/2018 19:53

@XXXTentacion

Vile

TheSheepofWallSt · 22/06/2018 19:54

@XXXTentacion

And his music was shit anyway

XXXTentacion · 22/06/2018 19:54

@thesheepofwallst
Thanks Biscuit

We have this Koodi highchair. We love it and it is always complimented when people come over

Anyone tried the Evomove Nomi? Looks beautiful!

Baby Bjorn is great - it's like a better version of the Ikea one as 1) you can fold the legs so it goes flat, 2) there's no gap between tray and baby's tummy, 3) it's much easier to get baby/toddler in and out 4) looks better. No straps, no crevices to get grimy. Can pick them up second hand for around £70 in my experience, and sell on again afterwards. We have two (only as spotted one for £20 on a local selling site) so one lives in the car boot for if we're visiting family or restaurants etc.

llangennith · 22/06/2018 21:49

IKEA Antelope high chair is perfect for any child.
