My 7 week old is ebf and has recently been suffering with wind (although not so bad that I’m worried) and her nappies are the reddish/brown colour as shown in the picture. They also smell and it smells when she breaks wind which I have been led to believe is not usual when baby is ebf. She does 2-3 dirty nappies each day and plenty of wet. Has small naps in the day and will generally sleep from 10pm - 5:30am without complaint.

Do I need to worry about this? Any advice much appreciated!

If it's severe dairy intolerance she'll have to give up on breastfeeding. Otherwise she'll have to give up on dairy completely... or anything that contains dairy. I'm talking about not even having a mini cheddar cracker. From what I seen on the photo it's fairly severe as that's blood in the poo.
It sucks but it is what it is. The right people will tell the parents what should be done, but I have looked after many kids who what dairy intolerance and the little boy I mentioned in my first comment was a severe case. He outgrew it but only because the partners followed the Drs advice and didn't think they knew better. I know a couple of kids who probably could have been fine but the parents went against the doctors, mum carried on breastfeeding and 'oh a little yoghurt won't hurt' kind of thinking... 4 years on little girl still struggles with dairy.

Still in the hospital awaiting scans and more blood tests. At the moment I’ve been told that I can continue to breastfeed if I give up dairy which I am prepared to do for at least a couple more months. She had a nappy that wasn’t as red this morning which is a bit confusing but we’ll just have to wait and see what the outcome is of the tests.

Hi OP, my baby has got a dairy allergy. He’s 9 months old now and he was diagnosed when he was 9 weeks old. I was breast feeding him and have continued to do so, so I’ve been dairy free for almost 6 months now.

I’m glad you’re in the right place and being looked after Flowers

Glad you're in the hospital and getting support! Both of my DCs are dairy allergic and I breastfed each for a year. I gave up dairy and soya (allergic to that too) and it was a bit hard but doable. There's a great CMPA support group on Facebook and a linked CMPA breastfeeding group, both are well worth joining for advice.

Oh and we had neocate formula as a back-up and moved in to that when I stopped feeding. The consultant told the GP to prescribe it until DD was two years old.

I had to go dairy free when I was breast feeding as well because my DS is anaphylactic to dairy (amongst a whole bunch of other things).
If you need any advice/help about diet changes I’m happy for you to PM me if it helps.
At the beginning it will feel like everything contains dairy. But whatever happens, know that not only does it become easier, it gets so easy it becomes normal.
