High chair

Hello!
Soon to start weaning (early due to cmpa) and I’m needing a high chair. There is so much choice though! Shock Has anyone got any tips or advice on what to look for or any recommendations please?
We don’t have masses of storage.
Thank you! Flowers

Can anyone advise on high chairs for twins please?

pastabest · 11/05/2018 19:55

welshmist two antilops? Grin

gruffalopuffalo · 11/05/2018 20:28

I've seen generic cushions on eBay, similar to the Antilop one but in nicer designs IMO. I nearly bought one but I'm glad I didn't - would have cost more than the high chair and it's really not necessary. And more to wipe clean - food would get between the cushion and chair etc.

I desperately want the iCandy MiChair because it's beautiful www.icandyworld.com/uk/en/collections/view/icandymichair/

Expensive though, and no idea if it's any good?

Stroller15 · 11/05/2018 21:17

I love our Ikea one. Had the cushion insert when baby was little - it costs £5 and can unzip with the fabric going in the washing machine. Easy peasy - tomato sauce stuff is horrible on anything else!

Smellybears · 12/05/2018 07:51

That’s why I’m thinking the asda one, I can’t be bothered with the hassle of ikea! The treck there, then trying to find a parking space, then battling through the shop with the crazy customers that can’t decide which candle they want (but don’t actually need) then the massive queues and trying to get back out! Confused

@welshmist my twins have 2 antilops.

slippynips · 12/05/2018 08:33

We have the joie snack and it’s great for us because it folds down so can be slid into a small space when not in use. Also the seat cushion/padding can be taken off and put in the washing machine. We didn’t like the look of the antilop because it just looks so uncomfortable for a little baby that still needs support sitting

Smellybears · 12/05/2018 09:26

The snacker looks like a good option. Why does the seat bit fold so far back, looks like almost lying down?

That joie one looks like everything a good highchair shouldn't be. Stitching and folds for crumbs and sauce to accumulate, and you'll never ever get weetabix out of there. High chairs shouldn't recline either, its a choking hazard.

That asda one looks great, better than the Antilop. If you're short on space and can get one second hand (because otherwise £££) I can highly recommend the BabyBjorn highchair too. Folds down to nothing, lovely supportive shape, no straps to get messy, tray pops off easily for washing.

Smellybears · 12/05/2018 09:40

The babybjorn looks lovely but how do you find the tray? It looks like little one will be able to push bowl off easily as there’s no lip?

OP posts:
MuddyForestWalks · 12/05/2018 09:41

Oh I've never put the bowl on the tray, both my kids were/are the sort to grab the bowl, shove their hands in it, rub food in their hair then lob the whole lot onto the floor halfway across the kitchen.

Smellybears · 12/05/2018 09:42

😂😂

MuddyForestWalks · 12/05/2018 09:44

You're laughing because its not you cleaning it up 😂

CottonSock · 12/05/2018 09:44

I can confirm the joie one is a bitch to clean. It now lives in our garage. I use an Antilop I found in a charity shop. Older kid in Aldi version of a Tripp trapp.

I got the joie for its recline so my grumpy baby could sit at table with us before weaning

Smellybears · 12/05/2018 09:47

I saw a high chair in Aldi the other day but not sure if any good?

Aldi one.. is it the big wooden one? I found a bit big for small babies but amazing for 18 months plus

antiestablishment · 12/05/2018 09:53

Cosatto noodle supa and I love it, it's the only one I've found that the tray is close enough to baby (with 3 adjustment levels) that the food doesn't go straight into lap.

I've tried Ikea at cafes and it's simple and ok but my dd has always seemed a bit wobbly and roomy in them.

Tbh since having a high chair my biggest selling point is definitely if the table part can be closer/ further to baby with adjustment.

BertieBotts · 12/05/2018 09:59

The Aldi one is probably a Hauck Alpha - is it?

BertieBotts · 12/05/2018 10:00

That is a copycat of the Tripp Trapp which is great but for different reasons :) I agree it's big for a 6mo.

BertieBotts · 12/05/2018 10:00

They are generally designed to go up to the adult table, so may be no use to you.

Smellybears · 12/05/2018 10:03

That’s the Aldi one

Smellybears · 12/05/2018 10:04

Just read reviews on it, won’t be getting the Aldi one. Not easy to clean and the table is too far back
