Spanish translation for a few phrases.

Might be better in this section.Ok as well as my allergy translations for a freind I now need the following phrases in Spanish.

• Please have your passport and boarding card ready.

• Toilets over there.

• Please join the queue.

• All Spanish flights... this queue for departure lounge.

• This way please.

• move over please.. move back please.... come forward please. (very polite version)

• Do not push in.

• Sir

• Madam/ Miss.

• Thankyou for your patience.

• No liquids allowed over 100mls.

• Put liquids in clear bag.

Babelfish is a great translation site!

I don't think the Spanish have an "adult" phrase which means "don't push in" do they? Just like they don't have a phrase that means "a quick lunch".

babelfish is terrible. people keep suggesting we use it to translate websites. i always want to ask what exactly people think translators do with all their time, or indeed why anyone bothers to learn another language.

I find it's pretty good for this sort of thing actually!

I'd have tried too but I knew some smart ass would come along & make me feel thick so didn't bother!

for "don't push in", Babelfish gives "no empuje hacia adentro" which literally means "don't push towards the centre". You can tell it's not a real Spanish phrase if you compare the number of google results for it, and for the real phrase which is "no corta la linea" (or "no corte la linea" if you're being polite). It's not common but you'll see what I mean.

  Todos los vuelos a España...esta cola es para la sala de embarque

  Por aquí por favor

Sorry I know not all the phrases make much sense.

The phrases

• Do not push in to the queue. Or perhaps
• Do not jump the queue. But I thought that was a british way of saying it.

Perhaps that is clearer.

They need to explain that if you are flying to Spain you will have to join this huge big queue along with everyone else. All flights in one queue.

Oh and for toilets what will they say when asking for toilets?

And what do you say when pointing to toilets (not for a sign).
