Spanish translation for a few phrases.

Might be better in this section.Ok as well as my allergy translations for a freind I now need the following phrases in Spanish.

• Please have your passport and boarding card ready.

• Toilets over there.

• Please join the queue.

• All Spanish flights... this queue for departure lounge.

• This way please.

• move over please.. move back please.... come forward please. (very polite version)

• Do not push in.

• Sir

• Madam/ Miss.

• Thankyou for your patience.

• No liquids allowed over 100mls.

• Put liquids in clear bag.

sorry but i agree with cheesey here. I almost posted the same remark but held on thinking about the subsequent public slapping !
People who ask for things to be translated need to trust the information they're given. I do speak Spanish but didn't answer because I'm not a native speaker. I would almost for sure make mistakes.

Califrau, my intention wasn't to offend you. If you're not a qualified translator, not even a native speaker of the language you're trying to translate into, then why do you get so offended over someone pointing it out? Whilst I absolutely didn't meant to upset you, I do not feel apologetic over my comment. Translators do an unbelievably hard underated and underpaid job, and just because someone is a native speaker of a language, it doesn't mean they can translate into it, never mind someone who isn't even a native. So whilst I have not offered the OP the correct translations, I do actually believe I have offered some help with my comment. Although I know that your intentions were absolutely honourable and you meant to help, I do not believe you have, actually. It would be like me providing medical advice to someone when I do not have the foggiest about medicine. People just don't get it. Just because you're fluent in more than one language doesn't mean you can do the job of a translator. If you're multilingual and think you can translate, it's like being able to type and calling yourself a novelist. Translators deal with meanings, not just words. It takes creativity and the ability to process two languages simultaneously. You might be pissed off over my comment when you were only trying to help, but I get pissed off over bad translations and I am helping the OP by not offering something ridiculously nonsensical.

Unfortunately, this is not a translating website so some mistakes may happen along with well intentioned postings.

May I also add that being a translator doesn't necesarily mean that you always get it right (too many variations of the language according to the region/socioeconomic/cultural background you are translating for/from).

P.S. Skribble, did you get the translation for the allergies? I may help if you want (allergic child and good command of both Latinamerican and Spanish Spanish)

Well thanks everyone for the input, it came in very useful and the staff found the phrases very useful and got help with some of the pronounciation from Spanish tour guides that were there.

Oh and yes thanks yes I got sorted out for the allergies translation, a lot easier as it was mostly a list of fruit and nuts she needed.

I have decided next time I am asked to hel get translations for anyone I might say no! .

One thing regarding the translation of fruit names. Remember that in Spanish they can vary widely between countries.

ah... and if you say nuts people for some reason never think of peanuts. DS has even been ofered almonds instead when I mentioned he was allergic to nuts

Thanks She seems to be allergic to so mauch I think she will just have to eat chips and plain pasta , seriously she has the translation for NO fruit! so hopefully she will be alright.
