My darling what if you fly. Thanks for commenting i do love the smell of pumpkins I don't have the space to grow them myself at the minute. This thread got taken over somewhat with a few comments so on page 7 of the comments there is a link where someone has added a new thread. People are going to be just talking plants and uploading pictures 🤗

Wow.

It's a thread about growing veg with your kid(s). Is everyone really this bored/angry on a Tuesday evening?!

FostersHomeForImaginaryFriends · 24/04/2018 22:24

You really don't see the issue with the title podd?

Interested in this thread?

Then you might like threads about these subjects:

Coveredinbeeeeeeeeeeeees · 25/04/2018 07:26

I dread to think how the people who are offended by the title cope watching TV adverts.... "Join the army" wtf how dare they TELL me to join the army! I'm 87 years old with a peg leg and a hook for a hand and they want ME to JOIN THE ARMY?!

FostersHomeForImaginaryFriends · 25/04/2018 07:27

I would be if the advert ended with no excuses.

cloudtree · 25/04/2018 07:45

There is no real issue. Anyone pedantic can make a long list of the "excuses" that do exist for particular people but the words were clearly not personally directed at anyone in particular, it's just perhaps not the wisest of wording on a forum like this. Jesus you could be offended by any number of threads on MN at any one time but everyone chose to be very aggressive towards an OP who has talked about gardening helping with her depression and pile in with unnecessary comments, refusing to let it go. MN at its worst. On a vegetable growing thread!

FostersHomeForImaginaryFriends · 25/04/2018 07:52

Cloud it was the refusal of the op to acknowledge anything which pissed people off.

cloudtree · 25/04/2018 08:05

The OP has depression and clearly chose to deal with the considerable amount of aggression (which I suspect she hadn't anticipated and certainly hadn't intended to cause) by blanking it. She is entitled to do that. She isn't obliged to respond if she doesn't want to.

I understand it may have pissed people off but the constant aggression was bullying behaviour and went too far.

FostersHomeForImaginaryFriends · 25/04/2018 08:11

Like I said earlier, if I posted a thread entitled breastfeed your babies - no excuses I'd expect to piss people off.

I also have depression BTW. Doesn't give you a free pass for a) being insensitive and b) deciding to ignore that you've done it.

It would have been over and done with had the op said actually yes, the title was a bit judgy, I'll get MNHQ to edit it. No biggie.

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 25/04/2018 08:13

* BiscuitBiscuitBiscuitBiscuit* for you Fosters.

FostersHomeForImaginaryFriends · 25/04/2018 08:56

plenty of others agreed with me.

Keepdlingwhatyourgutsays · 25/04/2018 08:57

Thank you cloudtree 🤗 I hope all your gardening goes well this year 💚🌷

AgentHannahWells · 25/04/2018 09:28

I agree with you Fosters. It isn't bullying to call out offensive behaviour.

Keepdlingwhatyourgutsays · 25/04/2018 09:35

How to add a photo

OP posts:
Keepdlingwhatyourgutsays · 25/04/2018 09:37

Not looking to sunny today and rain yesterday but the plants haven't wilted or anything and other bits doing well. I think, no expert.
I got a tiny watering can for £1.50 but using a cup or mug would do 🌱

Keepdlingwhatyourgutsays · 25/04/2018 16:49

Try basil and mint for the cats
I can't answer how you magic time but I can help with useful ideas what to plant and grow with the kids so are many others on this page.
And yes the furious outbursts then people's pictures of their lovely gardens is amusing when you get over the shocking language from some

OP posts:
Keepdlingwhatyourgutsays · 25/04/2018 16:51

Agent Hannah- yes people's language has been shocking and if I'd chosen to take it personal would have been very offensive behaviour but this is a thread on mumsnet and really nothing to worry about. I wasn't aware you were aloud to swear but we are all adults so freedom of speech and all

My dc are older now but we did not find anything amazing about growing veg. The potatoes were too small, the carrots too gangly and the Dec said they wanted to eat 'proper veg from the shop' Hmm
Just putting it out there for those who feel inadequate/guilty etc because they aren't able to do it.

Keepdlingwhatyourgutsays · 25/04/2018 21:21

so many negative people. If you have insecurities about your parenting don't put that on this Post. It's not my fault I say get garden people say "I'm a rubbish mum because I don't" o please grow up.

OP posts:
Keepdlingwhatyourgutsays · 25/04/2018 21:22

Uwjat I have learned from this though is completely ignoring the negativity people do go away. I've now chosen to comment on it out of choice. But if u want it to go away just ignore like I did yesterday

I’m crying at the Op’s lack of response 😂...very funny.

But more seriously, I’ve been digging my back garden to make a vegetable patch. Our garden is massive and underused. The patch will be 6mx6m I was thinking of planting the usual suspects, potatoes, carrots, peas, tomatoes and onions. Also a little herb garden for coriander, mint and parsley. One special thing I’d really like to try is blueberries. My kids love them but they’re so expensive in the shops. I’ve read you can get a good crop from the plants, they’re quite hardy and that they’re self pollinating, so even better. You can get plants for as low as £3.99. My parents used to grow vegetables like courgettes and pumpkins and it was so much fun picking the vegetable to cook that day. I hope my kids can enjoy this too.

Keepdlingwhatyourgutsays · 25/04/2018 21:37

Well done see it can be done if you want to and it's so worth it and fun if you want to make it fun. If you don't want it to be fun then I'm sure it could be horrible but that's your choice

OP posts:
cloudtree · 26/04/2018 07:09

hate courgettes are super easy and you get masses from one plant. Well worth it if you have a bit of space since they're really expensive in the shops and can be added to lots of dishes.

cloudtree · 26/04/2018 07:10

(ditch the carrots though) Honestly, unless you live on the beach that way frustration lies..
