When did you REALLY stop bottles?

So, I know you're supposed to stop at 12 months, but dc (18mo) is on allergy milk (which tastes gross out of a cup) and doesn't eat well, so is still having 4x6 oz bottle a day.

I'm just wondering when other ppl really gave up bottles and whether this will really do any harm?

My ten month old is breastfed, but if he has expressed milk he has it in a straw type cup. It happened at about six months or so, because I had a long break in the winter (uni teacher abroad) and so there was no need for expressed milk. I just decided to not bother reintroducing a bottle. Mostly he'll just have water until I get home now.

DC1 (with cmpa) never had bottles - he went straight from breast to cup at 12/13 months.
DC2 and DC3 - 12/13 months

All of mine were good eaters though.

Mine didn’t have bottles but given the natural preference for a child seems to be to suck until about at least 2 - I’m sure if I’d given bottles mine would have been on them until 18 months/2 years at least. It’s not that easy to change a child’s comfort object once they have got used to it.

Dd was on follow on formula until she was 2 then maybe a few extra months of normal milk in a bottle only as part of her meals or bedtime routine from about a year though. She used a tommy tippee cup for water during the day for additional drinks

12 months - went cold turkey and threw the bottles out and offered him diluted formula (diluted with cow's milk) until he eventually accepted all cow's milk. He was unhappy at first but soon got used to it.

I did this because: he was drinking mill instead of eating and waking up in the night for bottles. Oh and I was fed-up with sterilising/buying formula.

The first 3 nights were hard but then he started sleeping through once he knew he'd only be offered water and he eats better during the day.

Both of mine had a bottle to go to bed until age 2. Ds gave it up on his 2nd birthday. Dd found it harder, about 2 and 3 months.

My child is 5 and still has a soft teat beaker 😱 tried to wean them off but they just won't sleep without that warm milk!
