So cute...

Did anyone else's heart melt when their toddlers first started to talk? My ds will be two next week and has been saying quite a few words over the past month, but in the last couple of days he's been saying little sentences. The other day he said "Come mum" when he wanted me to follow him somewhere, and tonight he said "Bye, Mama" when I left the room after putting him to bed. It's just so lovely to hear him talking to me, I know it's ridiculous because one day I'll be wishing he would shut up!!! Maybe I'm just feeling extra-soppy at the moment.

I know how you feel! I think that starting to talk was just the best thing with both of my children. It's lovely when they first start, and totally fascinating and amazing how the whole thing progresses. With both of mine the first words came slowly, then their vocabulary increased exponentially. Dd is 2yrs 8mths now and still amazes me every day with how much she can say and how well she puts her sentences together (although the phrase 'Mrs Poo-poo Head', learnt from her older brother and applied to me when she's having a silly session, is one I could do without her having acquired!).

My nephew says, "Bye. Love you" every time someone leaves his house (he's 2!!)
My ds is 11 months (1 year on Saturday), and a few weeks ago, when I went into his room to get him in the morning, he said "Lo baba". I kid myself that he was trying to say "Hello mama", when he can only really say "ba ba ba ba" at the moment.
I can't wait until he says his first proper word, as long as it's not something bad!

Ds is just coming up to 22 months and says Hi Ya when he meets people. Yesterday he woke from his nap, sat up and said 'tuppa tuppa tea please'. Some of the things he comes out with now are so lovely. One of the cutest things he does right now is, as Im 28 weeks pregnant, is kiss my tummy as he is kissing the baby and said to his daddy 'kiss the baby dadda'

There's one word my 3 year old DS uses that makes me come over all soppy: "beautiful". I don't know where he learned it from because its not a word DP or I say. The other day he said "I am sad 'cos I spilled drink on my beautiful shirt" and last night I was putting him to bed and I noticed just how close together the eyes are on his Tigger toy. He asked what I was looking at and I said "I've just noticed that Tigger's eyes are really close together" DS turned over, hugged Tigger and said "But he's so beautiful" Aaaah!

I nearly had a cute overload with ds today. I was in Sainsbury's at the tills. I don't know if it is the same in every store, but in ours there are two trolley widths between tills.
I was standing waiting to unpack my shopping, and there was a family with a baby girl in a trolley standing right next to us. The trollies were really close, and ds and the baby girl were really interested in each other. Then they reached out and held hands!!!
What a cutiepie.

Such a cute age when they are starting to talk, but you do have to be so careful what you say don't you as they seem to mimic everything, usually in front of the grandparents or something!
A friend was arguing with her dh while walking her almost 2 yr old dd in the stroller, not a serious fight or anything, but when her dh called her a cow, their dd piped up "moo!" At which they both cracked up of course and the fight was over!

My 2 year old ds is an only child, and it was so cute to watch his fascination with his 15 month old cousin when she came to stay with us yesterday. He stood and stared at her for a while, followed her around like a puppy and then put his arms around her and gave her a big kiss. Then he stroked her hair and said "Nice". It was so gorgeous I had to get the camera out straight away.

It was my birthday last saturday and one of my presents was a pair of earrings which I dont normally wear as ds had a habit of pulling them. I have been able to wear them everyday and the other day ds climbed onto my lap, looked at my ears and said 'there nice mummy' and gave me a hug.
