teabag, hope your ds is better . Is he pooing on the potty? Any tips if so? Put ds on potty for the usual after-breakfast poo but he just wee-ed. Poo arrived later in the morning while at a friend's house (he had a nappy on).

I'm only testing the water (so to speak) at the moment cos I think he may be able to do it and I'd like him to be trained well in advance of ds2's arrival later in the year.

OOh teabag I could have written your last post. Who'd have though this potty training business would be so confusing? My ds is 2.4 and last Friday I left him nappiless at home and he is now getting really good at weeing on his potty (no poos yet - am dreading that issue!) But as I am at work today he has gone to nursery, who only like them in pants once properly trained. In the mean time at every nappy change they will sit him on a potty, I am off work for the next 2 weeks after tommorrow so hopefully, I will crack it then.

Why isn't there a camp we can send them to, and they come back all trained?!!

Northener I love your idea of the camp. Any offers to start one? Anyone?

Will put pants on tomorrow and see how it goes!

hi, ive been potty training my little boy for a month or so & he's great he will go get potty whenever he needs it, the problem is if we put pants on him he seems 2 forget potty & has accidents in his pants, ive tried pull ups & he just thinks he has a nappy on, so im not sure what 2 do next, any ideas?

teabag · 12/08/2004 13:41

Well today we've gone for the pants and so far had a couple of accidents! I decided not to remind him so often but clearly this isn't working so I'll continue with leaving him in pants and will start reminding him on the hour.
A very strange thing happened last night. I put a nappy on him and out him to bed as usual. About 5 minutes later he was calling out for me and had wet the bed even though he had a nappy on. As he'd had no nappy on allday I guess he just got confused. He's asleep on the sofa now with a waterproof bad under him as I didn't want to put a nappy on him.
Let's hope this afternoon is better a s I have to pop out, I've been stuck in the house since Monday and am going a little stir crazy

Northerner · 16/08/2004 11:27

Hi All!

LoopyLou - my ds is the same as yours. When he's got no nappy on and the potty is close by he will happily use it with no problems, but if I put pants on him he forgets and wees his pants. And he asks for a nappy when he wants a poo.

WHY IS THIS SO HARD?????????!!!!!!!!!

unicorn · 16/08/2004 11:39

I'm not tempting fate here (and we have had a couple of little accidents) but ds seems to be getting the hang of it (although he does wee a lot- and we have had to let him do it in bushes etc a couple of times!)
What seems to be working for him, is my OTT words of encouragement everytime he asks for toilet, or does wee/poo in toilet..(I say in a very exaggerated voice "Fantastic.. aren't you soo clever etc!!"
In fact he has now started saying 'Good boy Daddy' when dh goes to loo!!!!!
