How soon after newborn did you go out?

Just that really. Today I popped out for 2 hours while she was with her grandma sleeping. I can't take her out yet; in our culture she has to stay at home and her first trip will be to the temple. I felt so bad but at the same time got home refreshed and feeling like I'd had a break. How soon did you go out? What do you think is appropriate?

I was a section and on day 3 we went for coffee.

Two days with first gentle walk outside not far from home less than 24 hours with second had a trip to supermarket as DH wasn't well (although I did feel like my insides were falling out-so think that may have been a little soon).

The first was with baby the second was without but supermarket dash hardly counts as quality me time.

DS2 is 6 weeks old. Was discharged 6 hours after birth. Went out the day after to the shop, and took bith kids to MIL's. Not been out on my own without him yet though.

DD2 went to an agricultural show with us all at 13hrs old!

I'd had a traumatic birth with my DS 3 yrs before and had been kept in hospital for 3 days so I was so pleased when she popped out after 2 pushes that I could hardly believe my luck and how well I felt.

Do what feels right for you but I firmly believe that, if you feel well enough, getting out and about is much better for your state of mind than cooping yourself up.

4 days after wrapped DC up and went for a stroll round the park and shops
