Baby won't stop crying after injections, please help :(

She had her first round of injections this morning and had baby calpol, and she's such a happy baby normally but she's been crying for the last hour and I don't know what to do

Her nappy is dry, we're having lots o cuddles, she doesn't want to be fed, and it's breaking my heart seeing her cry like this, she normally doesnt cry at all. Is there anything I can do??

I'd take her back to the doctors or call the NHS number, 111 I think.

If she's constantly crying after Calpol then I'd want to talk to a doctor.

Could you strip her down and take your top off and have some skin to skin? Even run a nice warm deep bath and get in with her?

Does she have a temperature at all? X

Has she had more Calpol since this morning?

Agree with trying skin to skin, bath, or put her in a sling and go for a walk in the fresh air.

Oh yes good point about the Calpol, you are supposed to repeat the dose after 8 hours. I remember DS cried until I could top him up.

This happened to mine. He screamed all day and had a temperature but was fine the next day. It was awful at the time but we got through it.

She can have another 2 doses spaced 4-6 hours apart which I believe is what is recommended hope she feels better soon the poor thing!

No temperature, had her second dose of calpol after 4 hours (next one due at 6pm), and I'll give her a bath as we normally do this evening. Rang the doctors and they said this is normal! Has anyone's kids been like this after their injections?

It's such a pained cry, she never normally cries and she has proper tears in her eyes it's just awful, I hate seeing her in pain/upset

Could it be unrelated to the injection? Eg. Earache, tummy pain, different clothes from normal that she doesn't like?

Assume she's the normal age for first injections so not teething?

Does sticking the tv on distract her?

Keep going with the Calpol. Can you take her out for a drive or something that might settle her?

The Men B vaccine is brutal. Sunny DS was a grizzly nightmare after both rounds of it.

She's 9 weeks tomorrow, and the Men B vaccine was included; the nurse said to give her calpol as the Men B could make her feel poorly but she's so upset! Tried taking her for a walk as she normally loves that and sends her to sleep but no joy

By the sounds of it this is fairly normal from what people have said, I just hope it passes soon!

Ah yes that would make sense as mine are older and i didn't remember this but it looks like men b was introduced to the first injections in 2015.

Ah sorry must have misremembered the 8 hours thing, it probably felt like 8 hours but was actually less

DS is usually happy and was also very upset after the first jabs. I didn't try skin to skin but that's a really good idea. I just gave DS lots of cuddles as that's all they need when they're in pain I think. If you're breastfeeding that can soothe them as well.

PS When I say "that's all they need"... I mean apart from pain relief! It's pretty much the only thing you can do once you've given Calpol!

Mine was like this, he was fine came home had a big sleep, woke up and just cried and cried. We stripped him to his nappy and had lots of cuddles. He eventually calmed down and was fine the next day

DS was like this. Not a cry-y baby at all but inconsolable - and I mean screaming - after his 8 week jabs. I was sobbing too in no time and climbing the walls with worry! Made me almost frightened to take him to his follow-up jabs, but if it makes you feel any better none of the other jabs were anywhere near as bad.

DD has her 8 week appointment soon... Not looking forward to it :/

Mine was miserable as hell after the first vaccinations. Inconsolable. We snuggled on the chair on in the sling for 24 hours.

I feel horrendous for having inflicted this on her I know it's for her own good having all the inoculations, but this is the first real dose of 'mummy guilt' I've experienced and it's awful!!

Oh I was the same, it feels awful knowing that you've almost intentionally done something that hurts them even though it's the best thing in the long run! It does pass quickly and I found the next ones a lot easier to deal with guilt wise.

Mine was exactly the same. Feeding her seemed to help- i dont think she was that hungry but she seemed to find it comforting and it stopped the screaming

Dd was like this after having her 12week jabs on Monday! No temperature or anything just totally inconsolable for a whole day! I just tried to keep her calm and we got through the day, woke up the next morning all smiles!

If they had the drops in their mouth (I forget what they are called) they can cause stomach cramps as its a live vaccine
