My Hummy's - any good?

Hi all

Has anyone got one of these My Hummy sleep aids? Reviews are great however I already leave white noise (womb noises) on all night and it doesn't seem to help that much! Will MyHummy help where my current method is failing?

Never actually tried a MyHummy but like you heard of the rave reviews - is it the one that detects movements from the baby and starts playing?? We bought Ewan the sheep (£30 I think) ahead of DS arrival after so many people said it was fab and to be honest it didn't help us at all and is now gathering dust in the nursery ! If anything the white noise kept DS awake. I think some babies either love white noise or don't bother for it :-/ do post back if you do get one and it's amazing though as be interesting to hear :) x

I was looking at these today. The main advantages over Euan seem to be that the MH plays for 60 mins (Euan only 20), further the MH can turn itself back on if it detects the baby stirring. On the down side, that feature seems to eat batteries.

I haven't used one so can't comment personally. Might be worth trying out the other types of white noise that MH plays by finding videos on YouTube and playing them to your baby. I think there's heartbeat/amniotic fluid, ocean, hairdryer, vacuum and something else. If the sounds themselves don't work on your baby, then I doubt the other features of the MH will make any difference.

Gro store have just brought out Olly the owl which is similar to my hummy it has a cry/stir sensor and has the white noise and the lullabies and cheaper than my hummy as they have 12% off the first order. I'm going to give that one a try for my DD

I have bought one of these my hummy bears.. by the reviews I was expecting miracles !!! It’s early days but Ash (the grey bear) has not helped at all... I will give it a month then on eBay it will go!!!!

My son loves noise and it is the only way I can get him to sleep )including in the car where we also need white noise). I thought my hummy would solve my problems BUT I still just use my phone: my hummy is too quiet; I find the different noises not very varied; the volume is hard to control and as PP says batteries get eaten. Despite having my hummy, I use my sound sleeper app on my phone.

I am holding on to my hummy as LB is only 14 weeks so wondering if he might manage quieter white noise and not constant as he gets older and I can get my phone back. In the meantime, I sacrifice my phone for naps and nighttime and it does the job.

We have a myhummy snoozy. MIL bought it for DD for Christmas last year when she was 3 weeks old and it worked amazingly for us.

I think for DD the best feature is that it turns back on if she stirs or if there is an increase in background noise. We live in flats and if someone shuts a door in the hall or downstairs it switches on.

If the batteries get low it only stays on around 10mins and those night we really notice a difference and have to get up with her a lot more.

I bought one... it never worked for my son I keep trying it! We have had it for 3 weeks I tried various different times, naps bedtime calming him down nothing about my hummy worked

Don't know the myhummy but I'd recommend the marpac husshh. It's about the size of your palm, runs off the mains and plays white noise all night. None of this 20 min or 40 min rubbish! It also can run off rechargeable batteries so you can use it in the buggy or if you go away and there's no plug. It plays wave noises (which I find most effective as they sound similar to slow adult breathing) plus two sorts of white noise. Volume is very adjustable and there is a lock feature to prevent your child from changing the settings if they are playing with it.

To update, we bought a My Hummy. It's ok but overpriced for what it is. I found the sound from it very tinny, it also did not have a rain option which is the sound my baby likes the best. The "listen and turn on" option didn't work for us as my baby is a very noisy sleeper so the MH just turned itself back on immediately and played constantly. Might work better for other babies.

Currently using an MP3 player and speaker which gives better sound quality. Thinking a proper white noise machine might be the way forward (thanks for the recommendation minipie)

It really worked for me, it was a big help in getting Isabelle to actually nap with me rather than always with her mother. And the teddy bear one is great as it helps become a 'friend' too. We have the sleep head and the teddy bear though.

Doesn’t work for us - 16w old now and had it since birth. I hardly bother to use it. It may have helped a handful of times but not worth the £££

I may recharge the batteries and try it this week as her sleeping has gone from pretty good to pretty rubbish. We actually found a YouTube video for ‘baby white noise’ better and at least louder than the myhummy! - except that won’t come on when she stirs.

We bought a myhummy for our preemie baby he ia now 4 months corrected and 4 weeks actual and with it my baby sleeps 2/3 hours a night but once awake will not go back to sleep ofc hes still only little so hope his sleep will improve when he gets older
