So does no-one else leave their baby outside the shop in the buggy any more then?

Just wondered because I am the only person I know in RL that does this!

I wouldn't leave him outside Sainsburys for an hour or anything, but when it's a little shop and either I'm only going to be a moment, or I can see out of the window, it doesn't bother me a bit.

Surely it's the easiest thing to do?

Sorry. Killed that one, didn't I?!

Didn't mean to upset anyone and don't know why I said it really. It is true, of course, but it was barely related to the OP. Sorry about that. It's not something I usually tell friends, let alone a bunch of virtual strangers.

vimfuego · 02/04/2007 12:01

That's very sad gg, you must have been very depressed.

I'm absolutely fine now, honestly! I was very, very lucky - it only lasted a year or so and fortunately I went back to work after 4 months which I think probably saved both of us. It is all well in the past, fortunately, although I think my relationship with DD1 has suffered a little, but that's a whole other, long story, which I won't bore you with. Again, sorry if I upset anyone. I love her to pieces and can't imagine life without her now. And I guess it just shows that the depression does/can pass, even without treatment.

NineUnlikelyTales · 02/04/2007 12:15

Gamegirly, you haven't upset me but I am sorry you had such bad pnd, you poor thing.

specialmagiclady · 02/04/2007 12:20

That's what mumsnet is all about. SO sorry to hear you had a crappy time. But mighty pleased to hear it's over!

On the subject of the OP, I leave my son in the car on the forecourt and outside the healthfood shop and a couple of others, because he has a nut allergy and I'm paranoid that he'll come in and grab a snickers bar/handful of bombay mix and die that way!

We all have our little fear fetishes, don't we!

Gg, so why have you put on your profile that you do not have children? Does gorgeous 12 yo dd exist or not?

littleEasterlapin · 02/04/2007 12:44

Elasticwoman, that happens all the time, if you don't specify your children's details, it defaults to "no children", lots of mums on here have profiles saying that.

Elasticwoman · 02/04/2007 12:50

Oh I see. Thanks for explaining that.

GameGirly · 02/04/2007 13:07

Yes, sorry about that, Elasticwoman - I'm a complete technophobe and couldn't work out how to change it. I have DD1 who is 12 and DD2 who is 9. Both are fab! Thanks, littleEasterlapin!

I've left all the kids in the car at the forecourt - safer than tackling a busy forecourt with 3 los. Mine are passed the buggy stage and can't remember leaving them outside shops regularly but if a shop was too crowded or small and in a quiet place I probably would have done.

ipodthereforipoor · 03/04/2007 08:44

I left DS outside a tattoo shop on saturday...

KathyMCMLXXII · 03/04/2007 09:44

What were you having done, Ipod? Was it his name in a heart?

my mum leaves buggy outside when she goes to some shops in our town to avoid hassle of getting buggy in and out (especially if she has the double) - as according to last headcount - my children are present and correct I try not to worry about it - there are not half as many wierdos as people think and people you know are much more likley to cause you harm than people you don't (statistically speaking). So while I tend to keep buggy with me at all times I don't give mum a hard time on this issue. She makes sure she can see buggy at all times.
