Potty Training help

My 2 year old DS2, doesnt have any inclination about potty training.

He sits ith me all the time in the loo, and knows what I am doing, yet shows no signs of potty training

He will walk about for ages with no clothes on, but as soon as I put on pants he wees in them.

Should I wait for him to give me a sign or should I push him a little.

He will sit on the potty for ages, but refuses to do anything

Ronniebaby · 17/03/2007 00:32

My eldest DS was dry during the day at 20 months

I know 2 is young,

just Dh says maybe we should try to push him more

Hello, My DD was trained by 18mths. I didnt push her, she was the one who told me she was ready. I dont think 2 is to young at all.

Anyway i have 2 ebooks for potty training, i can email them to you if you want? (i dont mind emailing to anyone else also) I'll keep a watch on this thread for email address or CAT me

Interested in this thread?

my dd is 21.5 months old, LOVES to wear pants, has peed in the potty once on purpose but flatly refuses to use it now, it's a struggle to encourage her to sit on it. She won't consider the toilet either.

When she is wearing her pants I will ask her if she wants to use it and just get a NO! Seconds later she will be peeing where she stands!

I do feel that she could be ready, she was whining at me for attention just now while I was checking my email and as I said to her that I had to finish my email then I would give her attention, she then peed. So I think she was trying to tell me she needed to go (or just wanted my attention!)

Have bought her a book about potties to try and encourage her that it's normal. Not sure what else to try.

Interested in those ebooks MagicalMay, if you think that we're ready! klaw @ macmail. com (no spaces)

Thanks in advance!

fmmack @ talk21 . com

many thanks!

my dd (2.2) loves taking her clothes off and pee'ing on the floor - even after sitting on potty for ages. or she takes delight in waiting till i'm busy doing something, takes her trousers and nappy off in record time then pee's.

Doulaklaw · 18/03/2007 12:09

Also....

My dd also loves to try and dress herself, can put on her own wellies, INSISTED on trying to put her pants on this morning, got frustrated that she ended up with both legs in one hole but didn't want mummy's help, eventually she came to me for help.

We are open about going to the toilet and so she watches and tells me I'm going 'poo' when I sit on the toilet...

Although I'm concerned when she bursts in when I'm emptying my Mooncup. I don't want her to copy me and insert something into herself!

I cannot for the life of me remember how I handled all this for ds 13 years ago

JOSIE3 · 18/03/2007 12:10

Please could you email me the books too?

it's [email protected]

Thankyou!

amidaiwish · 18/03/2007 12:14

i started training at 2.4 - it took 4 months! she just wasn't ready... don't put yourself through it. wait for a sign! it's torture otherwise.

MagicalMay · 18/03/2007 12:20

Hello, im abit busy just now but will email out the ebook stonight

I agree amidaiwish If they are not ready to then stop and try again in a couple / few mths.

Happy Mothers Day to you all

lins1uk · 18/03/2007 15:56

he doesnt really sound like hes ready yet i left my little girl til jan this years shes 3 in a few weeks,
i would leave it for a while longer hes still very young,
you will know when hes ready,
i use to leave her with no nappy on and leave a potty around near her she soon realised what it was for and we took it from there,
just dont rush him let him do it when hes ready and he will.

Ronniebaby · 18/03/2007 23:00

Thanks ladies

I wasnt bother about it too much, but Dh is saying "well Ds1 was dry now blah blah"

My friend told me that she has had people ask her if she has started potty training her DD1 - she's just had her 1st b'day ffs!

My aunt has been saying for the last 6 - 7 moths "is she clean yet?" argh. She also said that it will save me a bit of money if I got her out of nappies. Yeah and she b/f for 12 months to save spending money on formula - I don't think so! In fact I can't remember her b/f my cousin at all. She's not exactly Mother Earth but what worries me is that she annoys me because I am like her (bossy and opinionated!)

Ronniebaby its a good idea (excuse really) to have a cuppa and some chocolate at the computer - well you'll need some brain food and the cuppa is to replace the sweat you'll loose while reading hehe

margo1974 · 20/03/2007 15:07

My dd is 2 next week, and tells me all the time when she is weeing, she demands I change her straightaway when she poos but refuses to use the potty. She moans when I put her nappy on but when I tried her in pants she demanded I put her nappy back on. Now she says no pants and no nappy! She sees me use the toilet. She can hold on while waiting for the bath when she has no nappy and wees in the bath as soon as I put her in. I don't want to pressure her too much to use the potty so I think I'll wait a bit longer and try again in a couple of months - any advice would be great though as nappy changes are a trial!!

MagicalMay · 21/03/2007 18:07

margo1974 Still nothing hunny - maybe try again if you want

margo1974 · 21/03/2007 22:11

Doulaklaw · 22/03/2007 16:25

Thanks for that MagicalMay!

belgo · 22/03/2007 16:32

What do you mean by push him a little?

2 isn't particularly young to be potty trained.

My 18 month old asked to use the potty today then weeed in it.

Jiz28 · 22/03/2007 19:29

MagicalMay.. would love an e.book. Had a nightmare potty training my ds, made loads of mistakes, had loads of setbacks.. My dd is now 22 months & don't really know how to start & nervous as last time was so bad! Any advice gratefully received.
