so you did. wow you can make your own? i'd love to be able to do that. i'm trying to find one at the moment with a sleeping hood and the only one i can find is £53!!! if i could make my own it would be so much simpler.

Paddlechick666 · 16/03/2007 11:09

i've just started using a storchenweige for my 14.5kg 17 month old.

really want some tips on the back carry but can't make any NINO or slingmeets coz I'm working

I can do an hour or so with the front carry but then my hips begin to ache!

any tips gratefully received.

nappyaddict · 16/03/2007 12:04

Thread hijack - am looking to get an Ergo but then saw Papatum on Bigmamaslings (am going to hire it first)

I currently have a babasling which has never really fitted (I can't pull the top rail in tight enough to hold my wriggler) he is 10 months now.

So is it Ergo or Papatum -has anyone ever used a papatum??? I wore my sling a few times when I took my oldest to preschool (got some strange looks from the mamas and papas pram crowd)

Hijack over

I shall hire the Ergo then, thanks. I just wish the "papoose" coat didn't make you look like you are starring in an Abba video!

kiskidee

cool thanks!

like the rucksack one - looks do-able.

the cross back youtube one looks intimidating! i don't think i'm nearly flexible enough for all that flinging your arms half way up your back!

will watch again tho.

cheers

kiskidee · 17/03/2007 13:20

a friend of mine sent me loads more links. if you want them, cat me and i'll forward them.

Paddlechick666 · 17/03/2007 14:11

cool, will do.

have had a go at the back carry just now. whilst it wasn't a roaring success it wasn't a complete disaster either!

i had visions of dd flying over my head - she's such a wriggler!

lol.

Celery · 17/03/2007 14:20

Just to throw some more into the mix - other soft structured carriers, which are similar in concept to the ergo and patapum, are Beco's - available at Bigmama, Yamo's - currently available on eBay and Connecta's - available at sybela.co.uk

Paddlechick666 · 02/04/2007 10:39

hi

i went to a slingmeet on saturday and tried various sorts of mei-tai with some success.

also got some excellent tuition on wrap back carries.

i've now ordered an Evo from Cwtshi after loving this carrier.

still intend to master the wrap back carry but in the meantime at least i'll still be able to get dd on my back!

accessorizewithbabysick · 02/04/2007 13:20

Paddlechick, you didn't happen to try an eden carrier did you? I was thinking of one of those when ds2 is a little older, they look lovely. Have just ordered a hotslings from bigmama, but need something I can use when playing outside with ds1 etc. Are they nice and secure in a mei tei, I much prefer the styling of them to wraps?

Paddlechick666 · 04/04/2007 08:06

Hi

Not sure what an Eden is?

I tried a mei-tai but didn't find it as comfortable and secure as the Evo which is based on the mei-tai design but the rings on the side make for a snug fit.

The napsack was also lovely but IMO it's really a winter carrier - it's so snuggly!

I love my storch and really want to keep practising wrapping but the Evo will keep us mobile till I master the back carry.

HTH

accessorizewithbabysick · 04/04/2007 20:34

Eden is just another mei-tei (I found it on homegrownbaby) with less oriental styling. Interesting you found them less secure, I did look at the clwt online, seems lovely. Wish I could find somewhere to try them out without paying out to rent & return them!

Paddlechick666 · 04/04/2007 22:19

definately check out slingmeet.co.uk - assuming you're in the UK!

whereabouts are you btw?

that's where i tried several slings on saturday last.

also, bigmama slings rent so you can try before you buy. i think if you buy the rental price goes against the sale price too.

i tried a calin gauze that way and loved it but was still pretty unsure about wrapping.

in the end i bought a storch off another MNer!

accessorizewithbabysick · 05/04/2007 13:45

I'll have a look, thanks. I'm in Yorkshire. Have yet to even try out my ds in the hostlings pouch I received a couple of days ago!
