Just a woohoo, feel the fluffy goodness kind of message

For any disposable user havin a look - now is the time real nappies are being promoted across the country... if you want to know if there is an event near you then ask on here and someone will know something (will add the list later today).

Cloth really isn't that scary... fits under most normal clothes, disposable liners means you are just throwing poo away - not washing it, from as little as 2 extra washloads a week, saves money, and most of all - it looks sooooo fluffy

Let us tempt you into the world of cloth....

(Oh and if you are reeeeeeeeeally desperate for the disposable, one lucky person can have my size 4 easy up sample!)

@ hunker

LadyOfTheFlowers · 12/03/2007 23:33

colditz - they are great for that!

i have some that have been specially relegated to more 'household' duties:

Floorcloth
drink mopper
muslin style duties
car window cleaning

millions of uses.

be warned, mothercare ones are not square after one wash, they go rectangle- pants! it these ones that got relegated.

im sure one of these nappy ladies have some good ones?

hunkerismunkerless · 12/03/2007 23:34

(thought I'd written utility nork then, but I already have two of those )

LadyOfTheFlowers · 12/03/2007 23:36

actually, you mentioning about no leaks with disps, ds2 used to get it all up his back over the top of thenappy with disps.
none of that with cloth.

makesachange · 12/03/2007 23:39

@ "PMSL" on the basis that it's so bloody appropriate.

Bloke chatting to owner of nursery shop I frequent (wife brought in new baby to choose essentials). Overheard saying, "Well, we're doing fine, and really appreciate all your help. But - have you any information on any locally run pelvic floor exercise classes for DW?".

Baby or not, that was a puddle, I can tell you.

Emma goes off to design some bamboo nappies for ladies...

AbominableSnowMum · 12/03/2007 23:42

MAC - if you are designing bamboos for ladiieess then Aitch might be interested

mummyhill · 13/03/2007 07:41

Colditz - My DS had horrendous nappy rash in disposables so I switched to cloth, we use a combination of terries and shaped nappies with a fleece liner. We also ditched baby wipes and are now using fleece or terry cut up small and soaked in cold camomile tea with a few drops of tea tree and a splash of sweetalmond oil. His bum has cleared up a treat.

Flamesparrow · 13/03/2007 07:52

Flame did go to bed

Colditz - you know you want to

Can't really say anything more than MAC as we generally give the same advice (and have a disturbing obsession with bambineos )

A friend of mine had terrible hand-rash from using baby-wipes. She switched to cloths, and it cleared up. So yes it seems that it might be worth swapping the baby-wipes for washable cloths to see if that helps the nappy rash.

oHeleno · 13/03/2007 15:48

Also, we ran out of nappy wraps so were using disposables - MAN THEY LEAKED!

We are so glad to be back to our cloth terries. We use terry squares plus Disana woollen outers or pvc outers. We find them fine apart from one thing...

.... urine smells? Anyone else had this, and any tips? Only kicked in after DD reached 12- 14 months.

colditz · 13/03/2007 16:05

Have obtained 4 prefolds and a nappy waterproof wrap. And some disposable liners

Should I was them firts?

Flamesparrow · 13/03/2007 16:21

Are they new? New things are always best washed a couple of times first (for natural fibres) to boost absorbency.

Helen - disps always leak on my babies

I am looking to use cloth this time round with DC no3. I have asked for advice from the nappylady site and had no responce as of yet.

I think I may like to use the fluffles as they sound the easiest. Only prob I have is going to be putting the things on. I looked at the tots bots website, at the demos. It look as though I will need a degree in origami to put them on.

Are they really that easy to use??

Also with fluffles does anyone know what wraps are compatible??

Really want to give them a shot this time!!

megandsoph · 13/03/2007 16:43

Which wraps are compatible rather

Flamesparrow · 13/03/2007 16:47

They are really really easy - are you thinking of popper or nippa?

Motherease wraps are the most reliable out there (imo) - the rikki (velcro) give a slightly neater fit, but the popper airflow ones are more breathable, and they are less likely to undo it! (more adjustable on legs too).

Do you know that fluffles can be quite bulky? (I don't want you to be all set, then have problems getting girlie jeans over them)

OP posts:
megandsoph · 13/03/2007 17:01

Probably popper FS. How do those nippa things work?

Ahhh bum there is just soooo much choice. Will email you FS if you don't mind? from your website to get some thorough advice.

I really really do not have a clue. I hope to beable to pop a cloth un on when the baby is born and have set aside a fair few pennies just for the nappies from my maternity grant so need to get it right.

Would be truly greatful for your help Pleaseeee

Flamesparrow · 13/03/2007 17:05

Yup, tis fine - either click the button on site or email bumfluffnappies at gmail dot com

Hello, I'm Debbie and I just had to gate crash this thread as I too am a complete and utter nappy addict!! In fact I'm so addicted I have become a cloth nappy advisor in my area!!!!

Anyway, am happy to add any product reviews that I have used and am also really interested to read about ones I haven't tried too. It's nice to have somewhere to talk nappies without people giving you a seriously odd look!!

LadyOfTheFlowers · 13/03/2007 17:22

barmy - im thinking of becoming an advisor too. sounds sad but i LOVE it! lol

i have to come here as my family are sick of it!

Rantum · 13/03/2007 17:25

i used a brilliant nappy service - so i didnt even have to deal with all the washing and the nappy company used all eco friendly products, and used dual fuel vehicles for all their collections and deliveries - would recomment it to anyone who doesnt want to have the constant nappy washing (which I did do myself til ds was 9 months and it was a bit of a hassle, i found)

Barmymummy · 13/03/2007 17:30

Lady - YES I know exactly what you mean!! My family's eyes just glaze over now despite being quite interested to start off with!!

Rantum - your service sounds fab! Did they just wash prefolds?

Flamesparrow · 13/03/2007 17:38

Who are you with debbie?

OP posts:
Barmymummy · 13/03/2007 17:45
