which one should I buy? I'm gonna buy one tonight, brand new!! (Pushing the boat out here!)
Ds1 is 20 months and is a very heavy wetter at night. This is my last attempt to sort it before it's back to 2 disps per night.
I am loving the cute stripy ones as they will double up as shorts in summer meaning I wont need to shoe-horn him into anything else. (I only have 2 pairs of C4C shorts and 1 trousers- they are expensive too! lol)
As these wraps are expensive, I want real advice on which is better and why....

Flamedragon · 01/03/2007 23:10

erm... gimme a sec, got a list here

Flamedragon · 01/03/2007 23:13

Assuming he is an average sized 20 monther... £22

By the time you can use em nights, use em day in the summer, only wash them occasionally... when you think about it you're probably earning money buying them

LadyOfTheFlowers · 01/03/2007 23:16

he weighs 28lbs.
is that normal?
he is an inch shorter than his cousin who is 4.....

OP posts:
Flamedragon · 01/03/2007 23:18

lol, then he is definately in a large or xl which was where the prices changed, so I gave you the right one

LadyOfTheFlowers · 01/03/2007 23:22

I thought that price was bloody expensive! My list is wrong - £17.99!!

LadyOfTheFlowers · 01/03/2007 23:30

i was gonna say......

i thought i'd seen em cheaper! lmao

OP posts:
Flamesparrow · 01/03/2007 23:33

I was thinking she'd bumped her prices a hell of a lot since last summer!!

Alethia · 02/03/2007 17:30

Knit some! I got really thick wool from a Freecycle group and knitted some shorts for my son. Once they'd felted and been lanolin treated, they worked brilliantly. I also made bum sweaters from old wool sweaters I found in charity shops. They worked well too, and some of them had quite funky logos on the bum once I'd made them up - LOL!

LadyOfTheFlowers · 02/03/2007 17:44

i was thinking of doing that actually!
once you cut the jumper does it all unwind? i guess i need to makethem bigger to allow them to felt up/shrink?

Hi there,
my little boy was a very heavy wetter at night and only fairly thick, felted wool wraps were sufficient. I used Popolini poppered wraps in Large or extra large over big boosted nappy like a Huggle, with extra boosters in between the nappy and the wrap, at the front, so the back was flatter for lying down.
Another good felted wrap was the Disana velcro, although it's a peculiar shape and you must cover the velcro, it kind of undoes a bit on mine.
Oh and another is the stacinator poppered wool wrap - quite low in the rise/height though.
I have a stacinator you could have for a fiver plus whatever it costs to post - it needs lanolising, but it's quite voluminous. If you want a piccie email me at
maisiemog at gmail dot com.
Buy the biggest wrap, to accomodate a lot of boosting.
You could always try sitting him on a potty after the bath and reading, it might reduce the wee outuput over night as well.

kittypants · 02/03/2007 21:17

disana are cheap and extremly reliable.

lunavix · 02/03/2007 21:22

I adore flowerpot tots. Not cheap, but lush.

Wallace · 02/03/2007 21:28

flame - do you sell lanolin? I made my own wool wrap out of an old jumper but haven't found any lanolin locally. I'm also knitting one but get no time for doing it

Bagpuss30 · 02/03/2007 21:34

Disana here too (only I need a new one as ds has outgrown his). Woollywraps do look so nice though....

kittypants · 02/03/2007 21:49

agree woolywraps look nicer but id only buy again if i could find a nice second hand pair.disana are too good!i cant bare the thought of paying loads more for something i feel worked less(on my ds just my opinion dont shoot)just coz it looked prettier!

maisiemog · 02/03/2007 22:40

Or you could make your own wooly pants from an old jersey, save a bit of cash.

makesachange · 02/03/2007 23:12

Flame - I don't want to get into selling wool at Makes a Change. If you're going to sell a range, let me know and I will point people your way.

Ex

PS I love wool, but TBH the majority of people who buy CN are wanting the eeaaaasist option and they don't take the time and effort to think of the "best" options like you ladies (and gents, if you're lurking)

Flamesparrow · 03/03/2007 00:37

Yup - I'm stocking woollywraps (only got pants listed atm but will be getting the wraps, shorts n longies on soon), and hopefully will have some couche when I get some funds (I am spending far too much before I have it! )

I love wool - never seem to use it as much as I should though... mainly because I ran out of lanolin for ages!

I'm not stocking lanolin, but it seems silly to be selling the wraps and not the lanolin, so I will have to look into it.

I get mine from www.underthegooseberrybush.co.uk

LadyOfTheFlowers · 03/03/2007 11:04

have beenout this morning, at the crack of dawn, so to give me a whole day- lol - to buy a sweater to make one!!
omg. i can bake, i can draw, i can even clean pretty well but sew?!
this will be fun.
it is a lovely deep red gents marks and spencer one, size 38 so plenty big enough.
it cost me £4 from the ymca shop.
if i am sucessful, or even if i am not, i will get a pic on here so youcan laugh at my efforts lol
we have had live labours on here (including mine!) and now i will provide live wooly pant making by complete novice!
