I bathed mine a week after his birth just in warm water with cotton wool. I had been changing his nappy and cleaning his bum with warm water and cotton wool every time he was changed (and drying it thoroughly). But i had severe eczema as a child so i was worried he may develop that and didnt want to wash him too often or use any soap as that can make it much worse.
Now i wash him in the bath every few days. His hair i do once a week. Face, hands, nails every morning and evening. If hes done a really awful poo tho i might give him a bath even if he only had one the day before.

yes washing exacerbates eczema as the water dries out the skin

I bathe DS 2 every evening as part of his bedtime routine, not because I think he needs it. Once every three days would be fine otherwise. I just dip him in some warm water for 5 minutes and that's it.
I started using soap for DS 1 when we started weaning. I use EcoCert stuff like Weleda.
I think baby baths are great - save a lot of hot water.

We bathed DS in the sink once or twice a week in the sink in the first couple of weeks, usually triggered by a nappy explosion! Then from about 5 weeks he's come in the bath with one of us most evenings, he really enjoys it and so do I. No products.

'washing' daily with aveeno cream has cleared ds excema up. I'm sure bathing him with something soapy would make it worse, but a cream like this has really improved it.

Daily at around 7ish. We use oilatum in the water so her skin never gets dry. She sleeps like a dream after a bath
