I do...

my ex had the kids at the weekend & DD (2 1/2) told me shed been sick in her bed while away

I wrongly assumed she was making it up as exH had said nothing, but have just emailed him and he said that yes she was sick on Sat night but he didnt find it til Sund morning

I check every night b4 I go to bed & I know that ex doesn as he never did when we lived together

DD had suspected mengititus at 1 1/2 & only reason they rushed her into hospital was cos I checked her b4 I went to bed & called ambulance

mrsnoah · 23/01/2007 23:57

Always always always.

And some of mine are BIG now!

Dh rarely does tho.

Skribble · 24/01/2007 00:14

Yes I do, pull up the covers remove books and switch off lights, DH claims he does but never removes books or lifts up life threatening lego blocks from the access route etc.

I do, DH doesn't... he walks like a herd of elephants - tis for the best!!!

mears · 24/01/2007 01:01

Not anymore. Ds1 is 19yrs old. DD1 (no.4) is 13 yrs old. Can't remember when i stopped. Now I only check to see if they are back home

agalch · 24/01/2007 07:22

Yes check every night

Ds1 is 15 but go in and say night and give him a kiss, and nag him not to stay up too late.

Ds2 is 11,kiss him (usually asleep) and take books etc off bed and switch lamp off and remove glasses lol.

Dd1 check covers are tucked in and sniff her neck and kiss her.

Dd2 is 6 months and sleeps with me so no need to check.

McDreamy · 24/01/2007 08:00

Yes every night without fail. DD 4 DS 18 months. DD really likes to know that I check on her too - reassuring I guess. She normally opens her eyes and gives me a lovely smile but can never remember it in the morning!!

NotQuiteCockney · 24/01/2007 08:27

Never ever ever.

My kids wake reasonably easily, and I never ever check on them.

Imafairy · 24/01/2007 08:32

Yes, a couple of times in the evening before I go to bed; last thing before I go to bed; and if I wake in the night I check on them; and first thing in the morning too.

Bozza · 24/01/2007 08:47

DS is the heaviest of sleepers and I can do all sorts to him without disturbing him. DD is a much ligher sleeper and will get disturbed (especially if I have to drag the duvet out from underneath her) but will turn over and snuggle back down. I have been known to go check on an empty bedroom when they have been staying at their grandparents.

Paddlechick666 · 24/01/2007 08:56

yes absolutely, along with the 2 or 3 other times thru the evening and sitting with the baby monitor by my ear on the sofa!!!

okay, i'm a bit obsessive about it! actually i have to stop myself from going up too frequently.

sometimes I just listen at the door and as long as I can hear dd breathing i tip toe away!

i always go and check her blanket last thing tho - keeps her warm and prevents her waking me at 3am!!

dh, when he's here, never checks before going to bed but then that's because he knows i do/will.

sorry to hear about your dd being sick, there's always a chance it could happen after you've gone to bed tho......

itsmeNDP · 24/01/2007 08:56

Yes DH and I pop in to see DD (4) before we go to bed, give her a kiss and make sure she's not buried under a huge pile of cuddly toys.

DS1 & 2 are teenagers so we don't check on them but we do pop our heads round the door to say goodnight when it's time for lights out.

twickersmum · 24/01/2007 09:09

yes
and during the night as well.
tuck dd1 in (hope she then won't wake up too early!)
check dd2 is breathing - no reason why, just do!

AlwaysTheMummy · 24/01/2007 10:49

Like everyone else I do check on ds who is 3 every night before I go to bed just to check:

  1. he is still breathing
  2. he hasn't kicked his covers off
  3. he hasn't wet the bed
  4. he hasn't been sick
  5. cos I think he looks so cute and vulnerable when he's asleep and I thank my lucky stars that I've got this special person in my life aww!!
clairemow · 24/01/2007 14:23

I do. Check on them both when I go to bed, often have to put DS1's legs back in bed as he's hanging out!

Can you really die from inhaling sick? I know you can die from choking on it if you're lying on your back, but just inhaling the fumes? Surely not?! Any medics out there????

SurvivingTheTerrbileTwos · 24/01/2007 14:26

oh god yes!!!!!

My DS (nearly 3) tends to sleep in my bed (i know bad idea) and its quite high so frequently check that he hasn't rolled over.

go in again to check he hasn't kicked off the covers

go in again to make sure he hasn't lost Monty (his most treasured stuffed animal - a big floppy labrador puppy that's almost half his size)

go in again just to have a wee look at how cute he looks when he's alseep.

TT

lucy5 · 24/01/2007 14:29

Yes, I always check and so does dh.

LadyOfTheFlowers · 24/01/2007 14:29

yes. i couldnt sleep if i didnt.

LadyOfTheFlowers · 24/01/2007 14:30

plus they look lush when they are asleep. x
i spend a few minutes just looking.

Cashncarry · 24/01/2007 14:32

No - never. DD (2 yrs) is far too much of a light sleeper and I'd rather not spend another hour trying to settle her.

Before anyone judges me, I do still use the monitor all night every night
