Cutting your own liners... why did it take me so long???

I finally have liners that are wide enough and long enough to cover the entire nappy so you don't get the poo/liner/nappy edge merging!

DH wants to know why no-one can desgin a liner that doesn't twist round when the nappy is on... I have patiently explained that it is only when he puts them on that they do that

It took me a while to work that one out, too!

At least your dh does nappies, mine doesn't. At all. Ever.

Beat him!

Roskva, you need to buy a BumGenius. DH did his first change with one of these at the weekend (they are nearly idiotproof), ds2 is 18 months old.......

lol... i figured that one out a while ago flame..... was too stingy to pay for them when i have 2 million chaep fleece blankets lying around the house!

belgo · 16/01/2007 20:17

What's a bumgenius?

SoupDragon · 16/01/2007 20:18

It's a virtually idiot proof (ie suitable for men ) nappy that fits like a disposable.

Bagpuss30 · 16/01/2007 20:19

here

They are fab and I love ours.

belgo · 16/01/2007 20:24

Thanks - they look great!

belgo · 16/01/2007 20:26

But are they available in England?

SoupDragon · 16/01/2007 20:26

Look on nappymania.co.uk they have them

belgo · 16/01/2007 20:27

Thanks again.

SoupDragon · 16/01/2007 20:27

Whilst they do work well, I'm now rather disappointed with the quality as the velcro on a few has frayed and the elastic has gone in the leg on one of them after 8 months.

Bagpuss30 · 16/01/2007 20:31

Soupdragon, I have a version 2 BG nappy and I believe it is much improved from the original. The velcro is very sticky and the outer much softer from what I have read. You could always try returning the faulty ones to the manufacturer and see what they say?

Hanlou007 · 16/01/2007 20:32

soupdragon...Is that on the version 2 bumgenius?

I have one and love it...no leaks with DD1 who is 20mths and fits DD2 (7mths)...just ordered another

SoupDragon · 16/01/2007 20:35

No they're V1s. I have just emailed Nappymania to see what they say actually. BabyDragon can't wear the blimmin things at the moment anyway as they give her nappy rash.

SoupDragon · 16/01/2007 20:35

I was generally very happy with them though!

Roskvawantingsomesunshine · 16/01/2007 21:00

Those look really good. I might have to add one to my growing collection (I'm beginning to branch out from prefolds - they're efficient but don't have the cute factor!). As for dh, it's actually poo he's scared of, not nappies [grin - any cure for that, anyone?

SoupDragon · 16/01/2007 21:22

Paper liners make the whole poo thing easier to cope with

InvisibleFlamesparrow · 16/01/2007 23:10

The outer of the BG is softer? It was the feeling (and me being incompetent with them) that put me off...

I never bought any fleece liners - various ones free from buying online/swaps and other things, but they were all that bit too small, or the bloody hourglass shape - what is the point in that???

OP posts:
Roskvawantingsomesunshine · 17/01/2007 10:31

Until someone invents a liner that cleans all traces of poo from babies' bums, dh will run a mile from any hint of a dirty nappy!

SoupDragon · 17/01/2007 12:05

New BG are apparently a softer more "fabricy" feel, yes.

Apparently the wear is my fault for washing them at 60 degrees btw...

Flamesparrow1001010120120510 · 17/01/2007 14:33

wtf??? They SAY you can wash them at 60 don't they???

From their website "How do I pre-wash my new bumGenius diaper?
Just wash both the diaper and the insert once with just a little bit of detergent. You can wash these diapers in cold, warm or hot water. (We use cold water.) Make sure to add an extra rinse to remove lingering detergent in the diapers. Tumble dry on the medium setting. "

Hot water would imply 60.

Who have you been complaining to?? Lemme at em - I fancy a good argument (?arguement... both look wrong)

Flamesparrow1001010120120510 · 17/01/2007 14:35

arse... nope, just looked that is v2, v1 says "warm".

who the hell makes a nappy that can't be blasted at 60??

SoupDragon · 17/01/2007 14:38

Surely "hot" is a 90 degree wash...?

40 degrees does NOT shift poo. I've picked the wrong cycle before.

SoupDragon · 17/01/2007 14:40

Where's the V1 info?
