5 under 5. Is she mad?!

My opinion is yes
Friend of mine now has 5 daughters, twins who will be 5 later this month, next is 3.5, next is 2 later this month and now a 1 month old baby.

Takes all sorts I suppose.

Sounds lovely to me. I hope she gets lots of help though because there are not two ways about it, that's going to be tough.

I'd love to have four sisters.

Probably mad but I'm a bit

Carmenere · 02/11/2006 19:59

My mum had 3 under 3 when she was 23! She also had live in help......
I really and truly couldn't manage more that 3 and that is being VERY optimistic.

LadyTophamHatt · 02/11/2006 20:02

but Juule, haven't you got about 562 kids anyway....or am I confusing you with another nutter

juuule · 02/11/2006 20:27

Not quite 562 but nutter has been amongst some of my accolades. And anyway aren't you erm....moving in the nutter direction yourself

LadyTophamHatt · 02/11/2006 20:30

we're in a very exclusive club, don'cha know???

KellyKrueger1978 · 02/11/2006 20:42

I had four under 5, that was hard enough, and getting worse as they get older! I do love having a big family though, and wouldn't describe it as mad.

Anoah · 03/11/2006 12:45

If she is happy and the kids are happy then she isn't mad at all!!

If I had more money, didn't need to work crazy hours and lived in the same country as my parents and siblings (thus not having to do so much international travel) I would have a 4th baby. Mine are 6,4, and 20 months.

Tutter · 03/11/2006 12:46

yikes and there was me worried about going for no. 2

HumphreyComfreyCushion · 03/11/2006 12:57

I think it sounds like hard work, but great fun too.

I'm not from a big family, but those I know that are found it wonderful to grow up amongst lots of siblings.

notagrannyyet · 03/11/2006 13:21

Sounds great to me! It will be hard work but they will grow up together, learn to share, and hopefully be friends.

Just realised they're all girls.....Life won't be boring/quiet in 10 years time will it!

northerner · 03/11/2006 13:37

My Mum has 5 sisters and not any of them get on

You can always guarantee fireworks when they all get together.

SSSandy · 03/11/2006 13:38

cripes!
Well, she's fertile I guess

izzybiz · 03/11/2006 13:50

I was friends with a girl who had 3 sisters, they were all close in age.
My god, the fights they used to have in that house!!

If thats how shes happy, good luck to her, not what id want personally! 2 was enough for me, and they are 11 years apart!

notagrannyyet · 03/11/2006 13:59

Yep I fought with my sisters too.....like cats we were.
But we're very close now and can honestly say my DSs are my best friends.

sunandmoon · 03/11/2006 14:26

We were 4 under the age of 3 and a half (!!!).
One born in Jan 68, one in Dec 68, and my twin and I born in Sept 71..
It was fun and still is!!!!

mozhe · 03/11/2006 14:43

I have 5, aged 5.5 and down,( including 6 month twins ), it is GREAT. I love it and would love to have just one more,( not just yet as am recovering from some surgery atm...but soon ), to ' round it off ' ! I do work fulltime though and have, necessarily, lots of good help....interestingly I was the youngest of 9,( born in 11.5 years ! and no multiples ! ), am closer to some of my sisters than others but on the whole we get on pretty well. Our mum also worked too,( more unusual in 60s and 70s ), and 4 of us have followed her and dad into same profession !

christie1 · 03/11/2006 20:30

not mad at all, at one point I had 4 under 5 and it was wonderful. I miss it. Now I have 5 from ages 2 -9 and it is still wonderful, just not as tiring and more time to myself.

Judy1234 · 16/11/2006 00:45

I have 5 too including twins. I might have had more had circumstances been different. It's unlikely I'd have any more.

Once you've had one the rest don't make a massive difference. If you work I think it can feel easier (at least for me). My mother had 5 pregnancies in about 7 years although one miscarried and one died. My sister has twins. My brother had 2 under 2 at one point.

I think large families are fun. There's much less pressure on individual children. They learn a lot from each other too and I think it's made my older ones more responsible and have a better understanding of what small children are like.

lemonaid · 16/11/2006 07:38

One of my teachers had 4 under the age of 2...

(baby #2 turned out to be surprise triplets)

eidsvold · 16/11/2006 07:46

I think I would have had more had I started earlier - but I will only have 3 under 5 next Mar when no3 is born. Dd1 ( who has sn )will be 4, dd2 will be almost 2 1/2.
